Good for him. Ole Miss' own Mike Shula. Could do a lot worse with everything swirling there.

Very meh hire

At least we aren’t Tennessee.

ETA:

optimist perspective- a few plays from being 9-3 or at least 8-4

Pessimist perspective- one last second TD at Kentucky and a few TOs against state away from being 4-8

Have a friend who works for the football team it was at the team meeting tonight. Apparently not Luke is the next head coach.

Smart move. With all the openings and sanctions coming, let Luke ride it out.

in all honesty, as long as they don't give him a $12 million buyout, this seems like a wise and prudent move at the moment

if I am Ole Miss; I keep Luke & see what happens with the NCAA

ride it out

he did pretty well this year, considering

I would probably even give him 2 years after sanctions even

no "splash" hire is coming to Oxford right now

I have always liked Ole Miss (who can hate a Rebel?)

I hope he does well; if he wins 6 or more games a year during your probation and compiles a decent enough roster for when sanctions end to jump to 8 or more wins; then y'all will have done well

Congrats, Coach Luke.

Will he take us to national prominence? Probably not.

Will he call Detroit prostitutes from a University-issued cell phone? Probably not.

frick it. I’m fine with it. What great coach is going to come to Ole Miss while staring down sanctions? None.

Save $$$, keep players, ride out sanctions, give Luke a chance. He’ll sink or swim.

I hope Ole Miss gives him a shot.

No HC worth his weight would want that job right now. Luke obviously loves Ole Miss and he would be the perfect fit to ride out the storm with.

Smart move. Dream job for him no matter the circumstances, give him a room to sleep in, a cot and minimum wage and he'll still out-work any other coach they would've hired.

Reading on twitter that a job searching firm named Turnkey Search was the firm that was hired by Ole Miss. Apparently they were paid $200K. They were also the firm that was hired by LSU that recommended Orgeron to them....

Only in America, where you can make hundreds of thousands of dollars being hired by universities for recommending head coaches that those universities are already paying to be their HCs....
