I could see it if Auburn wasn't doing well, but otherwise, it seems like an odd move.
Danny West said a few days ago not to assume Gus wouldn't come here just because Auburn is a better job.

The Auburn fan base was gathering the pitch forks and lighting the torches after the LSU loss just a few short weeks ago. We were all talking about the prospect of that job being open in addition to the others in the SEC.
Let’s not act like it’s been rainbows and butterflies for Malzahn at Auburn this year or over the last few.
