Dan Mullen's dream job has officially opened up and I don't think he lets it get past him twice.

I understand why he wasn't offered the job last coaching search for Florida but this time it will be completely different.

Dan Mullen's History with the University of Florida

OC/QB Coach 2005-2008

Mentored Chris Leak, and Heisman Winner Tim Tebow

2 Time National Champion (2006, 2008)

So in his 3 years at The University of Florida he churned out 1 Heisman Winner and Two National Championships led by his Offense.

Now lets look at some other notable accomplishments in Dan Mullen's Coaching Career.

Mississippi State Head Coach

2009-Current

Overall - 67-44 - .656 Winning %

SEC Overall - 32-37

Bowl Wins - 5-2 - .400 Winning %

AP SEC Coach of the Year (2014)

Athlon SEC Coach of the Year (2014)

Maxwell Football Club Coach of the Year (2014)

Brought Mississippi State University to #1 in the AP Polls and held that position for 4 straight weeks.

Mentored Dak Prescott, who should have won the Heisman in 2016

- Starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys

- 2016 NFL Rookie of the Year

You can look at his overall record and say that percentage is skewed by a weak OOC Schedule which it is. You can also say the man has a losing record in the SEC, which he does. The thing is look where he is at, he's at Mississippi State and they have had their best years they will probably ever have under Dan Mullen. I know Dak was a very special player but it still takes skill to become the #1 team in the Nation. Under Dan Mullen, Mississippi State has been competitive in games against upper echelon SEC teams and that's something that doesn't happen at Mississippi State.

I think this is Dan's perfect storm to finally make a move, he has an AD in Scott Stricklin that likes and trusts him. He would be able to return to the East were his only real competition is UGA, so he is in a way easier Division. He would also be able to pull in Elite talent at The University of Florida that he hasn't had since the left Florida.

If Dan doesn't make this move I am convinced he is a pussy and is content with winning 7 to 8 games a year for a University he knows won't ever fire him.

This is the third time Florida has been hiring since Mullen has been at State.

If it happens, fire up the plane trackers to Starkville.

Is anyone else starting to feel sorry for these Ole Miss posters? It's like they've become so hopeless that they have no shame. Still worth it?

No...

His wife hates Gainesville. He's already paid 4+ million.

And OP failed to mention Dan's latest, and perhaps greatest, accomplishment:

He brought the University of Mississippi's corrupt football network to an all-too-familiar position - on their collective knees, but this time they're sniveling and begging for mercy.

Here's to you Mullen, you magnificent bastard! You may very well be retired from coaching by the time OlMiss recovers from this

He's done a good job, albeit with some bad losses, at MSU. Yes, yes, his defenders will start screaming "but he's better then Beilema" after I bring that up. Well dysentery is better then what Arkansas has had the last few years.

He has had some bad losses but he's working with a severe recruiting disadvantage. MSU shares a small state with two other established football programs and the threat of Alabama reaching over and cherry picking recruits.

Mullen is a hard working coach who is battle tested in the SEC. With Kirby Smart looking to build a dynasty at Georgia the Gators can't settle for "well he had a halfway decent season as head coach of UMass." You need someone who isn't blundering into the SEC blind.

He has a good eye for talent, and Mullen can develop a QB. Florida desperately needs that right now. If I was the Florida AD Dan Mullen would be my first choice and I'd make him a serious offer.

I agree. Mullen will bounce with the quickness from State if offered the Florida job. Money and a legitimate chance at at title will trump his wife's dislike for Gainsville.

Not a pussy at all. He's making 4 million a year at a school that he has spent the last 9 years of his life invested in. The fans and the administration are thankful to have him in Starkville.

Florida just fired their head coach after back to back SEC Championship appearances.

One thing I know for sure....with everyone in the world either reporting that Mullen is at the top of Florida's list, or guaranteeing that Mullen would leave in a heartbeat if offered the Florida job....When Dan Mullen is the coach at Mississippi State next year, we will all be able to agree on the fact that he turned Florida down. Then, maybe the bullshite will stop.

If the Bull Gators have any say in whether Dan Mullen is the next coach at UF (and they do), then I'm betting he won't be at the top of the list.

His "dream job" has opened 3 times since he's been in Starkville. He's still in Starkville.

I believe he is correct and Florida would be crazy if they didn’t offer Mullen the job.
