1) Left more talent (recruited much better than dooley)

2) 9-4 seasons much better than 5-7

3) Snapped losing streaks to florida and georgia

Of course I'll admit it. He was the right man to rebuild the program and I'll always respect him for that, but he isn't the coach to take us to the next level

Jones is not a good coach, but fact of the matter is it's not easy to win at TN by any stretch. They are 3rd in their division, and 6th or 7th in the SEC in terms of ease to sustain a championship caliber program. Nonetheless, if they get the right guy they can get to that level again.

Of course. That's not really in question.

- Tennessee was a mediocre football program from 2005-2009.

- Tennessee was a dumpster fire from 2010-2013.

- Tennessee has been a mediocre football program from 2014-Present.

Butch Jones has done nothing more than got them back to square one. It's what they do next that counts for everything. If they make the wrong hire they could quickly descend back into dumpster fire status.

Absolutely. The next coach will inherit a far better situation than what Butch inherited from Dooley.

I'll admit that. He did pretty good considering what he took over. Did some great recruiting and that will leave the pantry pretty well stocked for the next guy. Tennessee and the SEC is too much for Butch...he will never be a championship coach at this level. He did what he could but at this level and getting the money he is getting, that is well short of what is expected.

It's true, but he is reversing the work he has done and must go.

Yeah, I’ll admit he did better than one of the worst coaches of all time, all sports included.

He’s still arguably the worst coach in the SEC.

Absolutely!

Bring a good coach and we will be okay. The program is stable, and there is a lot of individual talent.

Just need someone who can mold it into a team.
