Can the SEC get back to the dominance we saw from 2003 to 2013?

Or was that just a once in a lifetime, lightning in a bottle decade?

IDK but we’re gonna do our part.

Tennessee, Texas A&M, Florida, LSU and Arkansas are all going to have coaching vacancies in the next 5 years.
If at least 2 of them can't hit home runs, then the conference may be headed for the dark ages. I think you'll see some major names in the SEC in the next couple of seasons.

No. Other leagues have started to pay coaches. The coaching talent in the Big Ten is insane right now. We also don't have the QB play in this league that we had in 2012-2013 and may never again. That was an insane crop of QBs during that two year stretch.

SEC still totally dominates recruting rankings. But we have some of the shitiest coaches. 70% of SEC coaches are on the hot seat.

I don't get the QB drought, the SEC can pull them so either
1) crappy evaluation
2) crappy QB coaches (if you have one)
3) trying to fit the QB to your system

Still crazy Auburn got left out in 2004

In the West this is really just an LSU problem.
Bama and Auburn are doing fine.
In the East, Georgia is up but Tenn is a shite show and Florida is in a gray area.
Spurrier doesn't coach Carolina anymore, Clemson took over that state, so that part was an anomaly.
Really, if LSU was decent, or if Florida turns out to be decent, we aren't all that different from the 03-2013 period you reference.

Because we're almost all within driving distance of one of the top 5 recruiting states in America between Florida, Georgia and Texas. It's a built-in advantage that will always be there for the taking if the right coaches can get the jobs.

There is no QB drought.
Stidham is very good.
Vandy's QB is very good.
Fitz is very good.
Both of Georgia's QB's are good.
Hurts is good.
Etling, believe it or not, has very good stats.

It's the weakest coaching crop the SEC has had in awhile. I don't see that type of dominance anytime soon.

That was just a special group. Murray, Manziel, McCarron, Marshall, Shaw, Mettenberger, Prescott, and even Bray and Wallace. There's never been a group of QBs like that in the same conference all at once.

Three Heisman winners during that time, none on your list will win one.

When all the talent stops being laundered to one team. Then the talent will spread out and the league will become competitive again and coaches will be around along enough to build everything their way. Before the bottom teams could still sneak up and beat anyone. Now they couldn't luck up and beat anyone.

Absolutely, population and demographics favor our region, but the ACC could potentially catch up and stay caught up at the top

Well A&M was really good in 2012.
Missouri won the East in 2013 and 2014.
South Carolina won it in 2010.
Ole Miss shared the West with LSU in 2003.
Mississippi State was ranked #1 in the country in November of 2014.
Arkansas was a Top 10 team under Petrino.
The point is, at some point during that time period, almost all of the SEC had serious national success.

Marshall and Mettenberger sucked.

Ok... so you are judging the 2014-2024 SEC prematurely?

I think this has a lot to do with the available coaching pool.
Who would you say is a sure fire coaching phenom in the Group of 5 and bottom to middle Power 5 right now?
PJ Fleck? Brohm at Purdue? Scott Frost?
