No way. Les Miles won some games with his in-game coaching. He schemed us multiple times and made big calls at the exact right time to win games.
2010 LSU vs Bama immediately comes to mind.

ETA this

Agreed. Miles doesn't necessarily deserve to make a best game day coaches list, but he isn't one of the worst, either.

I know UT fans are ready to murder Butch, but I'm surprised a UT fan would put him on this list when you have a recent much more worthy candidate in Derek Dooley.

And no, no, no way on Les Miles. Does not belong here.

I'd replace Butch with Dooley for sure and probably pick Croom in place of Miles. Or Odom, but 1-year is too small a sample. If your list wasn't biased against the newbies, 77-0 Franchione at A&M would deserve consideration.

The original list is terrible. I know you just assembled the list so you could slam Butch but to not put Dooley on the list when you are supposedly a UT fan just shows your intent.

If I wanted to take the time I could make a long list of head coaches that would rank as worse than Butch. Here are a few that have not been listed. Ever heard of Robbie Caldwell, Brad Scott or Hal Mumme?

Ron Zook never had a losing season at Florida.

Replace Zook with Muschamp and you are on to something.

I'd have to assume there have been several worse game day coaches than one with a national championship

You've never had Leslie as your coach...

This here. He has managed to ruin Cam Newton's career in the NFL too.

No, he didn't. If he won any games, it was because his players bailed his sorry arse out.

Les Miles

A little harsh on Miles.

I mean despite his issues he won 3 division titles, 2 conference titles, a national title and got to a second title game.

Shula and Fran were both pretty bad. Fran was decent at preparation, but his in game ability sucked. For examples, see the Oklahoma and Auburn games from 2002. Shula was just too happy to be there. I remember him smiling on the sideline while we were up during two games we eventually blew in 2003 (Arkansas and Tennessee, I think). I knew then he would never be a great head coach.

But please, someone give either of these guys another chance.

To be a worst game day coach, you would have to have superior talent and fail to win the game. Not sure Jones can claim to have superior talent.
