The question that I'd like to get an answer to is this: what does Eason bring to the table that Fromm doesn't that gives him the nod?

Arm strength. And Fromm brings things to the table that Eason does not. That's what makes this so difficult.

The "experience" argument gets weaker with each game Fromm plays and Eason sits.

Absolutely it does.

There is an assumption that Eason has made a big jump between last season and this one.

Typically this happens, but not always.

Even if that's true, what (other than experience) does that get us that starting Fromm doesn't?

Again arm strength. They both bring different things t the table. Physically it is Eason and the intangibles favor Fromm. If Fromm had Eason's arm there would be no discussion.

While this is just my opinion, I give intangibles a slight edge over physical attributes....but it's very slight.

In this case, I don't think arm strength is as much of a factor on most pass plays. Better decision-making and accuracy trumps arm strength most of the time. Fromm has shown he can throw the deep ball and put it in a place where our receivers can make plays. If he can throw it 40 yards downfield, that's good enough to open things up for our running backs.

Forcing the ball into tight windows is great if you're accurate and it's the right and/or necessary decision. Eason didn't show great accuracy last year. I think that was one of the biggest reasons we had so many drops: he threw the ball like he was shooting a cannon and the balls weren't right on the money, making our receivers make plays on quick balls that hit them in the hands instead of the numbers. Fromm has been more consistent so far in hitting players between the numbers and he has put enough touch on the ball to make the less accurate passes more catchable.

If Eason was able to make better decisions with the ball and had better touch and accuracy, I'd give him the nod every day of the week, especially with his experience. But as of right now, the only thing I'd give him the edge on is his arm, which isn't enough, IMO.
