Hey guys, obviously I'm a Coach Mac fan because of his time at Alabama. I thought he was a great hire for UF and I was excited to see how he'd do.
Two East titles later and there's a lot of differing opinions on his ability as a coach. The East has been down during the back to back SECCG appearances, and UF wants to compete for National Championships. Coach Mac, an offensive coach, hasn't gotten your offense going. Granted the QB situation has made it tough (Grier looked really good, but then he was gone) but he has to recruit and make the most out of what he has. I really like Franks' potential if coached up properly and think he can be a big time player for you guys in the seasons to come.
Luke Del Rio is another former Bama guy. He was well respected as a walk-on among the fanbase as a guy who could maybe be a little like Greg McElroy. Not an impressive arm, but a really smart guy who could win you games. Last season he didn't give you the results you'd all like, but this past Saturday he did come in and get your offense moving.
You currently have the #7 ranked recruiting class, though teams will move up and down between now and NSD. Last season you brought in the #11 ranked class. Coach Mac and your coaching staff may not be getting those top 3 classes, but they're definitely bringing in talent. It's on him and his hires to coach them up and devise gameplans to win football games. He's done that, but not to the expected level. There's nothing wrong with wanting a National Championship and not being satisfied with two losses in SEC Championship games.
I like the Gators, I enjoy the Bama/UF SEC Title games. It's always fun and the Swamp is a great football environment. I hope y'all get back to dominating the East, and I hope Coach Mac can be the coach to do that, but it's difficult to determine if he can be.
So if he and UF do part ways, who is the answer? Sometimes you've gotta take a chance on a guy, who do you Gator fans see your school realistically landing that can perhaps turn you from a 10 win SEC East Champ to a 12 win SEC Champ?

On Del Rio: No, he did what he needed to do. He's 5 - 1 as a starter, with his only loss coming from when he was really banged up.
As for McElwain: He's rebuilding an offense, and he just needs that one quarterback. I think he'll get it in Matt Corral, but a lot of people don't realize how hard it is to build an offensive line from almost nothing. We haven't had a quarterback since Grier that wasn't either a transfer or a freshman.
Franks will be scary when he can learn the offense better, but he obviously wasn't ready.

This is the biggest thing. Really hard to be successful on offense if the OL isn't up to par.

Stop it. The OL is seasoned and plenty of other teams have inexperienced Ols and don't look like US on offense. Mac has started 5 QBs here. Every single one here is his. If he can't coach up the ones he has now Corral won't be any different.

Most of these guys have been in Nuss's system 2-3 years.
Ivey
Taylor
Heggie
McCoy
We were #66 in the country in returning games started at 63 games. More than LSU, Wash St, TAMU, Miss St, Ole Miss, Louisville, UGA, Michigan, WVU,USF, etc. 4 less games than Alabama. We returned the #8 most returning starts in the sec but we're #13 in the conference in total offense, #8 in passing and #11 in rushing.

OL is not seasoned, I'm not sure that word is what you think it is. We have 0 Seniors, 2 Juniors and 3 underclassmen. That's not, ah, seasoned.
Secondly: Of those 5 quarterbacks, one is his and that's Franks.
Who is, by and large, known to have been a work in progress since before he came to Florida. We knew he wasn't a Grier type.
Grier: Popped for PEDs, lol Muschamp.
Harris: Lol Muschamp.
Appleby: Not McElwain's.
Del Rio: Not McElwain's.
To outright say he's bad at taking other people's quarterbacks and not making them work is kind of retarded, and to say that Corral will ''look the same'' is equally stupid.
Do you ever get tired of being wrong??

Ivey accounts for a third of those starts, meaning that for five players one player accounts for a third of the starts.
But wait, there's more! Tyler Jordan has ten starts, too! Which means that 31 (pretty much half) of those starts go to two players, and Tyler Jordan isn't even starting.
Again, not seasoned.

Harris
Franks
Appleby
LDR
Grier.
All his QBs. They're his the moment he accepted the job. If you take out Grier and Harris none of Mac's recruited guys have looked even decent. Keep up the spin.
This OL has been in this system for 2-3 years. There's no excuse for how bad it's looked. If you have a problem with the #s call Phil Steele.

That's great, flowery speech but no. He inherited four of the five.

In the words of President Trump:
Wrrrrroooonnnnng.
First and foremost, he hasn't even been here for three years ya mook. This is his third year.
Second: Ivey is the only player who has been in ''the system'' for two years and is actually starting. The others have been in less than one.
Third: ''My bad, I'm completely wrong.'', that's what you're gonna say...in an alternate universe.

LDR Transferred here in early 2015. Mac recruited him and signed him here.
Appleby in 2016. Mac approved it. He signed AA.
Franks signed in 2016.

That's not how this works, TJ. You can't say he can't develop a quarterback when he has had to go looking for scraps elsewhere.
Del Rio, also, has had the most yards in any game in SEC play since 2008. I said Franks was his, and Appleby is a transfer.
So:
PED
Terrible
Transfer
Transfer
Actually developed under McElwain.
TJ: Destroyed.

I can when the guys he brought here either:
Haven't look any different than their other stops
Or
Aren't able to be coached up either because they don't have the skill or mental aptitude.
LDR looked the same here as OSU
AA ditto here as a Purdue
Franks is struggling to progress with the offense
Trask looked lost
Allen is washing pools.
Zaire plays just like Treon.
1 QB under Mac looked ok under Mac and he's at WVU.
1 outta 6. That's a recruiting and coaching problem. Both are Mac's responsibility especially when he's a supposed guru. He's looked more like Benny Hinn coaching and recruiting QBs than SOS.

Recruiting has improved. Jury is still out on Nuss as a playcaller.
