Gosh, we need to figure out what we're gonna do with Saban so we don't lose out on Dabo.

You forgot Bill Cowher. I think he's looking for a new gig.

There is nothing that anyone in the SEC, besides Alabama, can really offer him that is better than what he has and has built at Clemson.

I honestly have my doubts he'd end up taking the Alabama job. For all we know Saban will coach 5+ more years. Dabo will have been coaching at Clemson for about 15 years or longer if Saban has no early retirement plans. I feel like at some point his loyalty to the Clemson program may surpass what he may feel for Alabama.

If aTm throws him a lot of money, I think he will take it. I would rather coach at aTm than Clemson, wouldn't you?. Nobody knows when Saban will retire, or even if Bama offers him the job. I think Dabo would jump at the chance to coach the Aggies and prove he has what it takes to coach in the SEC. He would be the only Coach in Texas sporting Championship rings, and he could pick and choose his recruits in a talent rich state. He would be crazy not to take the job if offered.

Clemson is Dabo's masterpiece that he built from the ground up and only Alabama has a chance of pulling him away from a place that the people adore him, his son is a true freshman on the team playing for his daddy.

If Dabo keeps his team in the playoffs at Clemson every year, I don't even think Bama could pull him away. I think he wants to build a dynasty there and leave it in great shape for the future.

Les Miles would immediately be the best coach A&M has had since Jackie Sherrill.

Guys, I am a season ticket holder and have been involved with Aggie football for almost 40 years. I know a helluva lot more about it than finebaum or any of the other guys wanting clicks.

This is the real situation:

As long as Sumlin wins 8 games a year, keeps his nose clean, and there continue to be no player scandals, he will be Head Coach as long as he wants the job.

Sorry to disappoint you pot bangers.

If I'm Dabo, no. If I were just picking jobs, then maybe. Dabo has basically unlimited job security at Clemson and has a much easier road to the CFP at a program he built. He's being paid plenty to coach there. Why would he leave job security for life to try to rebuild a program he has no ties to and no comparative job security? If he struggles for a couple years at A&M he's on the hot seat. If he struggles a couple years at Clemson he won't be. It isn't as simple as A&M can offer more money now because that doesn't necessarily mean long term financial stability. It's never a guarantee unless you're Saban or Meyer that you'll be pretty certain any coach's success will translate to another program.

This is the real situation:

Every A&M head coach given either a guaranteed contract or guaranteed contract extension never made it past year 4 of those respective deals.

R.C. Slocum - Signed guaranteed contract extension at the end of the 1998 season. Fired after the 2002 season (year 4)

Dennis Franchione - Signed guaranteed contract extension at the end of the 2004 season. Fired after the 2007 season (year 3)

Mike Sherman - Signed guaranteed contract before the 2008 season. Fired after the 2011 season (year 4)

Kevin Sumlin - Signed guaranteed contract extension at the end of the 2013 season. Year 4 begins in just over a week...

Shoot for the moon with someone like Jimbo, Dabo, Peterson, or Chip Kelly and if they don't want it (likely) then hire Morris.

Thus making your head coach your fifth or sixth pick

that's the way to do it tho... start at top and work down.

Here, folks, lies the problem with TAMU Athletics!

We've been here for five years, let's go ahead and lay it all out. We've just witnessed someone admitting our problem and being proud of it.

You sir, are the reason why we will never win a NC in anything!

You are probably right on most of your points, but saying being at Clemson is an easier road to the playoffs might be right most years, but it certainly was not last year. The ACC out of conference record speaks for itself, and if you look at the pre season projected All Americans, the ACC has more than the SEC. The ACC was clearly better than the SEC in football in 2016. That may change this year, but it might not.

And not a one of those coaches you listed would have been fired if they were winning 8 games/year.

And not a one of those guys were a minority head coach in a PC era.

Sumlin's leash is much longer than you think.

The A&M Forum on the SEC Rant is NOT Texags...and you have zero posts on it.

Defensive - Check
No posts on the Ark - Check
Thinks texags is the only A&M forum - Check

As far as your other stupid claim, Slocum was fired after four seasons of 8-4, 7-5, 8-4, and 6-6. Had Slocum played the extra FCS game every season that Sumlin did, his records would have been 9-4, 8-5, 9-4, and 7-6...an average of just over 8 wins per year. Take away the FCS games and Sumlin has gone 7-5, 7-5, and 7-5 over the last 3 seasons.

Why would anyone want Dabo? Dude is a clown and is awful at game management. Watson ain't going to there to bail him out from now on.
