I think we get much of the same with a little improvement. Most of the big plays in the spring game came against T. Brown who was completely inexperienced at db. This will not be the case against fsu, lsu, au, etc. His biggest leap for improvement will be his jr year. We will be good, but not scary good.

I have to say it's hard for me to be sold on the guy. Call me old school but the only thing that matters to me in QB play is how effective is he throwing the ball.
I know he's a dangerous runner, but he's far from a dangerous passer as of yet.
Tua on the other hand is so natural throwing the ball. He's quick with his motions.
I saw Jalen throw 3 good rainbow balls, but also an attocious int in the end zone.
I don't think his passing will ever live up to my liking, but I hope we can win a ship with him this year, and that Tua is our QB in 2018

If ur talking about the interception in the A-Day game, it wasn't a perfect pass but he threw it in a catchable spot and the TE or whoever it was didn't look until late and the ball went over his head to be picked. That wasn't really Jalen's fault.
And ur saying how natural Tua looks at passing. Well yeah he does, but how did he look when he played against our first team defense? I don't think he gained a yard, while Jalen was scoring with not much of a problem.

It was a bad INT in the endzone. Period.
As far as Tua goes, no he didn't look great with the 1s. He looked like he had been on campus for a few months and hadn't learned to play against the best defense in the country yet.
Tua is also supposedly a really fast learner, so when he does adjust, he's going to be deadly. He has the natural ability. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if Tua started competing for the starting job as early as this fall.
Jalen, on the other hand, doesn't have it. He'll get better of course, but he's never going to be a QB that can pick a defense apart with his arm.

So Tua can get better but Jalen can't?

My point is that Tua's struggles are due to lack of experience and the mental side of cfb - easily coachable. Jalen's struggles are much more physically entrenched. He doesn't scan the field with lightning quickness, and then fire a pass like we saw with Tua.
To put it simply, Tua has a higher ceiling. It's a question of when, not if he surpasses Jalen.
This is more complimentary of Tua than attacking Jalen. I think Jalen might be good enough to win the NC with. I hope he is. But personally, I like having a QB with a more dangerous arm than legs

It isn't necessarily a question of when he surpasses Hurts. Assuming even that he could be better, given playing time, it could be the case that he isn't given that time for whatever reason. The coaches may want to go with the more experience Hurts in spite of all else. So it could possibly happen that Tua might also transfer.
I don't think it will happen like that. Personally, I think that Tua will get playing time to prepare him in the event Hurts goes down at some point. If, during that time, Tua shows that he is a capable qb that can run the offense and complete passes, then if Hurts has a bad game, I would not be surprised to see Tua.
Hopefully, Hurts has significantly improved his passing and reading defenses, as reported. We'll see soon enough.

That's hardly physical. Something like that can be coached into a player.

I am not ready to agree with this statement. Tua has yet to play one snap of major college football.

I'll bet that Tua never passes Hurts. When Jalen leaves its Tua's team, but not until then

At some point in the rest of Hurts' career at Alabama, he'll probably sustain more than a minor injury. At that point Tua's chance will come...we'll see from there.

You think he MIGHT? COME ON. We were a drive away from winning one in his true freshman year. Not debatable.
That implies that he is definitely good enough to win an NC with. Whether we do or not is a different matter.

With the best defense Saban has ever had which scored almost every game. I think people forget how many times we won games on NOTs last season.
Probably 3 or 4 games
There were some teams who couldn't handle our RPO package, but the teams that could really gave our offense a hard time.

Yeah and Clemson struggled to beat NC State and Auburn.
That happens in a season. What's your point?

Making factually inaccurate statements is the quickest way to show you don't know what you're talking about.
You want to know number of games Alabama won by NOT last year? ONE.
They beat OM by 5 (in a game led by 18 with less than 4 minutes left). Bama had 2 NOT, OM had 1.
There wasn't another game on the schedule where the final margin of victory came from NOTs. Arkansas was the only one that would have been within a touchdown without defensive or special teams scores.

Probably so. Unfortunately, of the 16 times we had the ball, the offense managed only 2 drives of more than 5 plays. Punted 10 times, 6 of which were after 3 plays.
Clemson scored with only seconds on the clock, so yeah, we were probably just even a short drive and time of possession away from winning that game.

I don't put this all on Jalen. Ohio State didn't look like they even had an offense against Clemson.

What does that have to do with our own poor passing performance in the game?

There is some serious stupidity in this thread.
