Prior to Cam Newton. Was auburn the only Big6 team who did not have a post Cold War national championship? If so how exactly were they considered big 6?

That Auburn team would have lost to USC by more than OU did.

Georgia still doesn't have a post Cold War national championship, so no.

But Auburn is the only Big 6 program that hasn't lost to South Carolina in football since the Great Depression

Always considered Big 6 to be more about conference championships/winning. Only the Big 6 have won the conference in the last 40+ years.

Auburn has a pretty respectable history. They just unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your perspective) share a state with one of the best programs in the nation.

Non-troll post: Auburn has a good program.

Do you remind people about this everyday of your life? I don't think I've ever seen you talk about South Carolina without mentioning this

Despite that title drought I don't think Auburn has ever had a stretch as bad as Tennessee has lately

I don't think so.

We had a significantly better defense, and far more offensive weapons than the Sooners did. Would have been an interesting matchup.

Big 6 is more than just football National Championships. It's a phenomenon that repeats when you look at seemingly every stat.

...most draft picks, most conference titles, most out of conference wins, most NFL players, historical recruiting rankings, it just goes on and on.

Go back and break down the rosters and it's not just OU, but that year we had more and better talent than USC as well. Good chance we win that game.

They weren't considered big anything with 1 SEC title in the first 50 years of the SEC. They had better success after that 50 year stretch that propelled them into the upper half of the conference.
