When I was a child, I would literally cry if I heard that man announce "TOUCHDOOOWWNNN AAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWBBBBBBBBUUUURRRRRRRN"

Traumatizing.

His call of the national title game is my favorite.

Thought he got carried away with the Touchdown Auburn thing towards the end, but have to admit he was one of the best play by play announcers ever. Something about his voice just oozed Saturday football. He's right up there with Munson to me.

Are there any great radio play by play announcers left? Or is that a thing of the past? Forney at Bama, Fyffe at Auburn, Munson at Georgia, Cristil at MSU, forget his name, but I think Tennessee had a legendary play by play guy also.

Legendary play by play

Member that time Auburn practiced and practiced how they would all coordinate a TOUCHDDDOWWWWN AUBBBBURN in memory of Jim Fyffe in 2003 and it took 3 games to get to do it?

Fyffe was great, though. Like Munson and Ward. There aren't any left like that. Passionate homers but not homers in a whiney way, homers who loved the school and would call them out if they were playing like dog shite. The best of radio.

Fyffe's best call was in the aftermath of the LSU Jamie Howard debacle. At the end he was enraptured, in tears, and screaming "We owe this one to the Great War Eagle in the SKYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!".
