I can only speak for myself regarding this issue. I remember when all of my friends and myself used to watch sportcenter all the time. You could check it out and see all of the previous days highlights in 30 minutes or so.
Here is what I see every time I see ESPN now:
They are trying to find the most diverse panel regardless of talent, knowledge, or experience; and talk about how there aren't enough minority coaches in the NFL, or why a player hit his wife, or anything else that has nothing to do with any game that was played the day before. ESPN is complete trash, their shows are garbage, and the talent is gone. ESPN should run their highlight news channel and just have a bunch of alternates for live sporting events.

What I said..
Is not hypocricy. Simply an assertion of my belief with an added point explaining my disagreement with those who think otherwise (knee jerk anti all things that may even sniff of progressive thought as insulting and must be eliminated)
Said statement was not a real contradiction or mutually exclusive on it's face. You are the one who imputed a motivation to the initial segment of my quote
FWIW an opinion inherently by definition is always based in an underlying bias. The value and objectivity of an opinion is to be judged based upon the foundation, reasonably derived validity and verifiability of base factual inputs which create the bias which gives rise to the opinion.

You hit it on the head. It really is simple economic cost/benefit. It really has nothing to do with the Limbaugh tinted glass wearing regressives looking to blame liberalism for their lot in life.

Hey Coach!
Can't believe I agree with so many Bama fans! :)
Espn has become unwatchable....
They just can't figure out why!

I'm not interested in a semantics dispute.

You won and I am sure your life situation is already greatly improved so step outside your trailer your mama passed onto you pop open a Natty Lite, recall fine memories of your favorite hanging tree and pop off a few clips from you assault rifle which one wonders how you afforded it and enjoy your life.

At least Jr, high honors classes were attended while your redneck arse was spending all your daylight hours hunting squirrels & possums to feed your family. Then coming back to the RV trailer to help mama cook vittles and pick up beer cans scattered all around the vittles eating tent while daddy remains passed out.

I was pretty sure you would not. BTW thanks for admitting you were wrong.

This is what is killing them. People are cutting the cord or only watching live events because of the preachy nature of the "debate" shows and even the "highlight" shows. Those (mostly conservative) people who would watch those shows got tired of being preached at.
I only watch live sports because I really don't enjoy listening to people like Steven A Smith, Finebaum and the whole hot take culture.
Like I said, I didn't even know their political leanings were a thing before today when I saw a bunch of conservatives bitching about them being liberal on twitter.

Going the way of MTV. MTV is no longer music video. ESPN less and less about sports.

Nice one JQ #upvote4u. Subtle yet effective. My only fear is that these Trumpster knee jerk reactionaries fear shouting "Liberal bad" may find it too subtle to understand it was a zinger aimed at their assertion.

Exactly. Both ESPN and MTV have turned away from the bread n butter that made them successful.

I just find it funny that everything is turned political.
Perhaps, instead of worrying about conservative sensibilities...it may be more prudent to be concerned with the SEC's media rights which are heavily tied into ESPN.

I'm sure out of the thousands employed by the World Wide Leader there are a few with conservative beliefs. Most of them probably learned to keep their mouth shut after Curt Schilling was fired for suggesting it was a good idea for people born with a penis to use the men's restroom. Which, by the way, happens to be an idea that is shared by the overwhelming majority of people in this country. frick you and the rest of the SJW's in Missouri. Your kind has already put your state's flagship university in dire straits with your progressive bullshite.

People chiming in claiming this is strictly about cord cutters are only partly right but if you ignore the political factor you are blind. Yes, ESPN has lost 10 to 12% of their subscribers and cord cutting us a major factor along with the absurd rights deals worked out with the major sports. That said, these cuts do not even equate to a fraction of a fraction of the lost revenue the company is losing daily. This has everything to do with current and future investors in the company and the message they want to send them....message being we are DIVERSE in every way, and we will be a good liberal solider in any movement the left deems worthy. Sadly, this just confirms what most of America already knows about the left which is they are completely out of touch with the people. You can't sale the average middle aged guy who loves baseball on cutting Jayson Stark (one of the most respected baseball people out there) while promoting Jamele Hill just for the sake of diversity. These cuts are the middle of the end of ESPN. Soon they will be a laughable network like MTV.
