Eason's 2016 performances were not impressive enough to guarantee him anything.

I think it's funny that some people are so down and worried about Eason as a true freshman in the SEC that they think he's going to get beat out.....by another true freshman in his first year in the SEC.

Do the Fromm-heads not think that he's going to experience the same growing pains Eason did?

I was excited when this came out. Then I realized how bad Brandon Adams was. I get that it's tough to put out podcast content every day, and it's even harder in the offseason, but he's just bad. I miss the Seth and Gentry show.

Yeah, I'm still on the fence on it. I listen to it pretty infrequently which probably helps... largely depends on what time I leave the office. If it's later in the evening, then I don't feel like listening to syndicated national sports radio, so often will turn on the podcast, or oddly enough my daughter seems to like to go to sleep to podcasts, so sometimes will get a bit of a UGA fix on. I enjoy the Sentell days. I think he does a good job on the recruiting front. I do hate that the first 10-15 minutes of every episode has now become a segment where he mostly plays audio soundbytes from previous episodes... would be better to just reference them and say go back and listen, rather than fluff out the time on each episode with content from the previous several days. But it's what we've got for now I suppose...

As far as offseason vs. during the season, I actually think his show might be better during the offseason. Maybe it was just a result of the less than stellar on-field product last year, but I felt like many of those episodes were unbearable to listen to him try and breakdown the actual on-field play. Perhaps that's an indictment in and of itself.

Yeah, it would take probably a combination of both a serious regression for Eason (not even just failing to take the next step), in addition to Fromm just "getting it" a lot faster than any freshman for this to be a real shot at Fromm to see the field over Eason this year. And if that happened, we'd still be in a world of hurt offensively... We bit the bullet last year and ate the "adjustment year"... back to back years like that and dawgnation likely will be back to divided over the Richt firing.

I do agree though that Fromm nipping at his heels shouldn't be a bad thing for Eason... he does need to take the next step and from what was being said late last year and early during the offseason, it sounds like he might not have been quite as motivated as one would expect. If he's not excited and motivated with the supporting cast he's going to have this year, I don't know what would. You have Chubb *and* Michel returning, a lot of big bodies to throw together something resembling a functional offensive line, and hopefully have had time to develop some timing and rhythm with the receivers on campus to start feeling good about your targets beyond just Nauta and Ridley. If Chaney tries to keep running up the middle into stacked boxes again though, I will blow my fricking gasket early and often.

Yes, he's freakin horrible.

Not sure if he's still doing commentary/update stuff
on 680 but it was God awful.

The best thing we could do is get another QB transfer in and redshirt Fromm. That way we get possibly 2 years of him after Eason ala DJ Shockley.

I totally agree with this.

I agree as well except we only had Shockley for one season

Think he's off now and just fulltime on the podcast. It's why he's able to bring in 680 people as well as 92.9 guys onto the podcast... I mean, awful is a bit of an overstatement... his voice is maybe a little off-putting (kinda nasally) but all in all, he's not drastically worse than the other guys that are on the radio out of Atlanta.

Half of the guys on 680 are pretty terrible. Buck and Kincaid are pretty much unlistenable... If it weren't for the fact that he has a CFB focus, Chuck Oliver would be impossible to listen to. Chernoff is entertaining, but if he had an original thought regarding sports it would die of loneliness. I enjoy Carlos Medina's insights at salary cap/free agency stuff...

Who *do* you guys enjoy listening to?

I saw the pains but I didn't see the growth. Eason was at his best in his first game.

You either weren't watching the games we played or are willfully being ignorant. But besides that, why are you convinced that Fromm won't see the exact same issues as Eason did? Eason was more heralded out of HS and has a full year of college/SEC ball under his belt. The first interception he throws next year if/when people start clamoring to see Fromm, do you not think he's going to have a natural learning curve as well?

-Averaged 118.3 passer rating
-Threw 8 total TDs and 5 total Int

Eason's last 7 games:

-Averaged 58.5% completion percentage
-Averaged 201 yards per game
-Averaged 129.3 passer rating
-Threw 8 total TDs and 3 total Int

Add to that, one of the tds in the first half was essentially a handoff and one of the ints in the 2nd half was a Hail Mary.

You like best buddies with Eason? You seem mad.

Nah, just think it is funny that people are talking about Eason struggling and assuming Fromm won't. I guess the old saying that the backup Qb is always the most popular player on the team is true.

Gotcha. Had to catch the second half on the radio and had already mentally scrubbed it a bit. That night sucked... bunch of gloaty comments from techies throughout the event I was at.

Not an overstatement at all...he's horrible and his op-eds are equally without merit or facts.

Kincaide and Buck are FAR more professional and will back statements (at least Kincaide will) with facts.

Honostly, the guy has NO business commenting on UGA or any other type of sports.

You actually think the guy has more authority and connections than Chuck Oliver to talk about SEC FB?
Delusional.

Where did I say this? I may think he's a bit of an Auburn homer and is an insufferable know it all, but from a sheer knowledge of sports and in particular college football, BA isn't just not in the same league, he's not playing the same sport. But to be fair, he's approached his podcast as a facilitator primarily, rather than a contributor.

Can't say I've read any op-ed pieces of his or if I did, clearly they weren't memorable.

Buck/Kincaid might be more professional from a show production standpoint (I wouldn't say by any significant margin), but they've also been running a show for how long? You're comparing a radio crew to a podcast. Kincaid is literally Atlanta's Yankee transplant radio troll and frequently gives opinion sans facts. Buck is barely more than a caricature at this point.

As far as no business, I'd say at least at present, the people signing his paychecks would disagree.
