Time to turn attention to Auburn’s initial 2018 recruiting big board (247)
quote:

Top in-state targets with offers

Auburn bumped up its haul of in-state talent during the 2017 recruiting cycle. The Tigers signed 10 players from the state of Alabama on National Signing Day. Gus Malzahn emphasized the growing importance of securing the state’s borders as Alabama talent improves annually.

“Once again, the state of Alabama was a priority for us,” Malzahn said.

It will be again in 2018. Here are the top Alabama prospects who have Auburn offers and are seriously considering the Tigers:

3-star RB Tae Provens, Madison County (Gurley, Ala.)
Unranked RB Harold Joiner, Mountain Brook (Birmingham, Ala.)
4-star WR Justyn Ross, Central (Phenix City, Ala.)
4-star WR Seth Williams, Paul W. Bryant (Tuscaloosa, Ala.)
4-star OL Tank Jenkins, Park Crossing (Montgomery, Ala.)
3-star OT Kameron Stutts, Brooks School (Killen, Ala.)
3-star OLB Andres Fox, Mobile Christian (Ala.)
3-star DT Timaje Porter, Theodore (Ala.)
3-star DT Coynis Miller, Jackson-Olin (Birmingham, Ala.)
Unranked ATH Nathaniel Watson, Maplesville (Ala.)
4-star CB Jalyn Armour-Davis, St. Paul’s Episcopal (Mobile, Ala.)
4-star SS Myles Mason, Pleasant Grove (Ala.)

Top out-of-state offensive targets with offers

With 10 Alabama signees, that means there were 13 prospects brought in from outside the state. Georgia and Florida are a hotbed for the Tigers, and that’s already proving to be the case in the 2018 class with the commitments of Gatewood and Shivers. Those aren’t the only out-of-state prospects on the offensive side who Auburn will be after in the upcoming recruiting cycle.

Here are the top offensive targets to keep an eye on. The Tigers have extended offers to all of these players:

5-star RB Lorenzo Lingard, University (Orange City, Fla.)
5-star OL Jamaree Salyer, Pace Academy (Atlanta)
4-star OL Christian Armstrong, Warner Robins (Ga.)
4-star WR Jacob Copeland, Pine Forest (Pensacola, Fla.)
4-star OL Deontrey Hill, Houston County (Warner Robins, Ga.)
4-star WR Matthew Hill, Brookwood (Snellville, Ga.)
4-star TE Tyneil Hopper, Roswell (Ga.)
4-star OL Jalil Irvin, Stephenson (Stone Mountain, Ga.)
4-star ATH Kearis Jackson, Peach County (Fort Valley, Ga.)
4-star WR Devonta Jason, Landry-Walker (New Orleans)
4-star WR Camron Johnson, Brentwood Academy (Tenn.)
4-star WR Joshua Moore, Yoakum (Texas)
4-star TE Mustapha Muhammad, Ridge City (Texas)
3-star ATH Richard Jibunor, Athens Christian (Ga.)
3-star TE Zach Sheffer, Nease (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.)
Unranked QB Gerry Bohanon, Earle (Ark.)
Unranked OL John Campbell, Dr. Phillips (Orlando, Fla.)

Top out-of-state defensive targets with offers

And now for the defensive group, which is an impressive list. The Tigers grabbed out-of-state defensive players such as Chandler Wooten, Markaviest Bryant, Tyrone Truesdell and Traivon Leonard in the 2017 cycle. Look for more of that in 2018. At least that’s what Auburn will hope for.

Take a look at the top defensive targets who Auburn has already told it wants:

5-star CB Derrik Allen, Lassiter (Marietta, Ga.)
5-star DE Justin Mascoll, South Gwinnett (Snellville, Ga.)
5-star LB Teradja Mitchell, Bishop Sullivan (Virginia Beach, Va.)
4-star CB Al Blades, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)
4-star DE Nik Bonitto, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)
4-star DE Brenton Cox, Stockbridge (Atlanta)
4-star SS Joseph Foucha, McDonogh (New Orleans)
4-star DT D’Andre Litaker, Riverdale (Murfreesboro, Tenn.)
4-star LB JJ Peterson, Colquitt County (Moultrie, Ga.)
4-star SS Myles Sims, Westlake (Atlanta)
3-star LB Rocky Shelton, St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)
3-star CB Juanyeh Thomas, Niceville (Fla.)
3-star LB Quay Walker, Crisp County (Cordele, Ga.)
Unranked Channing Tindall, Spring Valley (Columbia, S.C.)

Offer-less prospects to watch

If a prospect is still without an offer, that’s nothing to worry about.

Many of the top prospects in the nation turn out to be guys who went relatively unnoticed until their junior-to-senior offseason. With those types of players, they’re often complete unknowns at this time in the cycle. They’ll become popular topics once offseason camps take off.

Some players without offers are just a matter of time. Below are a few prospects who Auburn communicates with, but for one reason or another, haven’t pulled the trigger on an offer yet. I expect that to change, so remember their names:

4-star RB Asa Martin, Austin (Decatur, Ala.)
4-star WR Lawrence Keys III, McDonogh 35 (New Orleans)
Unranked DE Jamarcus Chatman, Rome (Ga.)
Unranked DE Tacorrie Russell, Munford (Ala.)
Unranked DE Malik Langham, Lee (Huntsville, Ala.)
Unranked WR Shedrick Jackson, Hoover (Birmingham, Ala.)
3-star LB KJ Phillips, Woodward Academy (Atlanta)
Unranked LB Matthew Flint, Madison County (Gurley, Ala.)
3-star ATH Cam Taylor, Park Crossing (Montgomery, Ala.)

I keep seeing Harold Joiner on these lists. Where is Sean Elmore? I know he's been to Auburn a ton over the last year or so and has done really well at some of the camps.
