I think we all know who played in the 2 most well attended bowls. :)

The playoffs have rendered the games meaningless. Plus it's hella expensive just to go see a shitty glorified exhibition game. I'd rather spend my money going skiing and watching games on TV during the holidays.

Quit playing these games on Monday, we're killing college football.

How much did they mean before the playoffs?

They really are. I mean I am not taking off from work to go to a bowl game after I have been off all week.

The weather was shite in New Orleans Monday so the sugar bowl attendance doesnt really surprise me since it probably didnt get help from locals without a rooting interest.
Eta:
So many of these tickets are owned by sponsors and companies and lots of time are given out to people who dont lose anything by deciding not to attend if its inconvenient.

You had other bowls with even worse attendance outside SEC.
They will play them in empty stadiums if they have to.
It's all about tv and an infomercial for the bowl host city.
With playoffs fans are not going to shell out the money they used to.
Problem with Sugar, it was on a Monday night, very late. Most people went back to work today. Plus any late local crowd was not going in yesterday's weather.

Bowls absolutely seem more meaningless than ever for some reason.
I couldn't care less about the NCAA imposing a bowl ban on Ole Miss, especially when I don't think we have what it takes to win the SEC the next couple of years.
That would be the only reason in not wanting the bowl ban.
Bowls really are pointless and I'm done spending $$$ on them, much like most other fanbases are as well.

I was at the Birmingham Bowl. I'd say there were 15-18 thousand people there.

I've been to Nashville abotu 5 or 6 times for UGa/vandy games, but I've always just gone directly to the stadium area then gone home after.
I had to go to Nashville for a wedding this weekend so it was my first REAL time to actually experience the place. I had a blast, really fun downtown area. It's made me want in the future to spend an extra night when we play vandy over there and take in the sights again.

they need to play the damn bowls when you are off for the holiday AND you don't have to go to work the next day. if you have to go to work, they need to be played early. I enjoyed the Saturday games on Friday and Saturday, but didn't have any energy to watch new year's bowls the day after new years. who the hell was going to watch the sugar late at night when the next day is a workday?
they are killing the bowls with the schedules.
