thinking "we have enough talent at the position as is" is the kind of thinking that ended up with us starting a junior grad-transfer at QB by the name of Greyson Lambert.

Well, yeah, if you ignore it for 4 years then you'll have a problem. This is one #1 ranked QB and we're acting like its the beginning of a QB drought when we just got back to back 5*s

Uhh no he's not. Seen him play. He might be better at some point, but he's not today.

Plus he's a 3 and out guy , NFL bound, like Eason. He's gonna want to play as a FR, and that wasn't happening in Athens

Not too sure about that. Granted, our QB room under Richt would have been Eason and Bailey Hockman (that was a MAJOR frick up in evaluation), so maybe Lawrence wild have seen the opportunity to start early.

I honestly think Cheney was a deterrent in this situation. Lawrence is a dynamic playmaker and he'd likely be handcuffed by predictable play calling.

Comparing Eason now to Lawrence now, I agree that Eason is better. But Eason as HS jr to Lawrence as a HS jr? I'm taking Lawrence. comparing a HS jr to a guy who has season of starting experience in a power 5 conference is ridiculous. But I still believe Lawrence will have the best career of the 3 of them.

Those of you arguing that we've already got QBs and Lawrence went where he can play early do realize that Clemson also has the #2 QB for the class of '17 committed, right? Lawrence may be sitting in either situation.

Sucks to lose another in-state kid.

It would make no sense for him to come to UGA and compete with Eason and Fromm when the door is wide open at a number of top programs to come in and be "the guy". Especially if Fromm redshirts to put some space between him and Eason....or wins the job from Eason next year as some people think.

CMR did have a history of stacking top QBs who then got to ride the pine and maybe had one year to come in and do something...or never do anything.... It helps your recruiting rankings but you can only have one QB on the field at a time. Unless they can punt or fair catch.

Clemson now has the #1 recruit in the nation also actively recruiting for them for more than a year. That could bite us on some in and out of state skill players.

I Lawrence is a dynamic playmaker

He plays in a class where most of the elite programs moved to 5A, and they were left in 4A.

He has a great defense that gives him turnovers and short fields.
His arm is elite, but he forces the middle of the field and over throws any type of tight coverage. His screen pass is very good though and goes for big plays. He does move better in the pocket than Eason, but he's pretty quick to scramble doesn't like to sit in the pocket. Not that that's bad, fits Clemson really well. Not UGA so much.

TL is a GREAT high school QB, really great but he's not BETTER than Eason or Fromm or Chase Brice who's early enrolling to Clemson.

Agree would love to have gotten him, just can't really figure out why is he not weighing all programs out there, seems early with so many options

Here's the thing that people seem to forget...we didn't ignore the position for 4 years. Christian Lemay, Brice Ramsey, Jacob Park, all 4-star QBs that we recruited. Guys that had worlds of potential. But it doesn't take much to fall behind.

Think about it, if you're lucky you have 3 scholarship QB's, possibly 4. Kids flame out, they don't live up to the unfair hype that gets heaped on them. Maybe one of those QB's doesn't develop, and maybe one QB just got hurt. You're now looking at having a walk-on as your back up, or 3rd string best case scenario.

And UGA may still get a 4 or 5 star for 2018; probably a 4 star. But getting 3 straight 5 stars while great highly unlikely

I'm sorry but if you don't think there's any difference in these two then you may need your eyes checked.

Why not? Hope the dude goes balls deep and then has to face Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs. Build that ego up and then bring him back down to earth.

Seriously though... He's 17 and wouldn't have seen the field for 3+ years had he landed in Athens. We didn't miss on this guy, brother.

He made the choice to go to a school that gave him a better chance to play. Quickly. Let's just hope Georgia gets to see the Clempson Tiggers with him under center.

Lawrence has the more physical God given tools size 6-6 , arm strength. Doesn't make him better , competition level helps some.
One of the biggest team/schools in 4A vs 7A not even close.

Chase - Chase Brice 157-244 2590 30 & 2 going into title game. 64% passing

Trevor- 236 372 3708 49 & 9 going into title 63%

Grayson runs the ball a lot more, much more balance attack; Brice is asked to make the RPO a lot more ; leaning heavy to give the ball to the back.

I've watched them both, Chase is a Sr and TL a Jr, there is no question that TL size and arm is stronger. Not so sure he's better overall
