Understood. You should appreciate the one day off. My youngest was/is Army. 1st Group out of Ft Lewis. He's still pissed he didn't get his medal while with the group. Ended up going with the Guard as he works on his MBA to see if he can get a chance at the medal. Not the brightest kid obviously.

Many folks have served, long before you. Don't be the guy who is "look at me! look at me!" Gives everyone a bad taste in their mouths.
Now, I respect that you're there and I wish you Godspeed returning.

You're ignorant if you think that's the point being made. Nobody is going to imply that I'm entitled just because I'm a millennial.

I'm definitely ignorant to your point and many other things you post.
People can imply whatever they want, it's the internet. Get over it.

Ok, wrong terms used. My oldest got a f'ing ribbon, the youngest wanted a badge, I deal in medals. Bottom line the youngest trained for 5 years and wanted action and didn't get it.

I would kill for my kids but the point was that some young men don't realize what they are asking for.

Dependent on what his MOS is dictates what kind of combat badge he would receive. There is the Combat Infantry Badge and there is the combat action badge (CAB) for everybody else that isn't infantry but do experience combat. Your youngest cannot complain. He got deployment time which looks good with the VA. It's not uncommon for a soldier to never deploy during his career. I must say, if he desperately wants combat, he should've went special ops. The guard probably won't help him.

He is and was special ops. And the Guard gives him great flexibility in choosing his deployments.

Lol so all that special ops training which equals to well over hundreds of thousands of dollars in training starting from day one as an E-fuzzy, and he never even got to put it to use. As far, as the second part....okay, whatever.

Yep. Taught him Mandarin and lots of other decent stuff. He went in on the XRay program. Basically if you sign for 2 we give you a shot at the beret. Living in NC got to see a few of the candidates on the limited off days they got. The quality went up as the time progressed. None of the guys that visited the first time made it. His wedding this year was amazing with the team members that showed up. 30 great Americans.
