They are really good.
Dominant defense.
Good offense.
Does any team nationally look as good as they do?

quote:Hopefully the first game of the playoff will be another Oklahoma or OSU game from a few years ago when they were great. A decent defense and good QB will beat them. Fortunately for them the sec is lacking good QBs and only a couple good defenses this year. Neither on the same team.
Or does the collective dogshit that is the SEC just make them look dominating?

Bama's D is as good as ever.
Their O is rather average outside of Jalen's legs.

I think that is what Kiffin would argue. And maybe he is right. I'd like to have seen some straight ahead running in the first half though. Maybe their line was as good as advertised until they got winded for being on the damn field the whole game.

Great? No

The defense is plain frightening.
The offense is a great example of making the parts you have work effectively. Bama does not have a single running back as powerful as they have had in the past, the O-line isn't as dominant, and Jalen's questionable passing takes a little vinegar out of the strength of the receivers.
That running opens up by spreading and tiring opponent defenses. Continually going wide forces the defense to spread out and runs them more. By the second half, Bama is better able to run between the tackles and essentially be in control of the game.
The team that beats Alabama will do it by effecting Hurts and having the ability to capitalize on turnovers. It takes defense to beat Alabama, and then an offense that can score every third or fourth possession.

That's one of the effects of jet sweeps. Get those big guys going sideline to sideline.

Best defense in the nation.
Offense not the best.
Great defenses make good offenses look great.

Bama just has a good punter that makes the rest of the whole league look like shite.

I think Auburns defense got worn down which opened up the run game during the 4th. They had spent a lot of time in the game due to their offense going 3 and out nearly the whole game.

And Alabama still had ~ 250 yards of offense at halftime before they wore down, they just didn't convert it into touchdowns.

Alabama had right at 250 yards of offense at half. If not for turnovers (which is this offense's biggest concern) this game is over at half.
