I agree with some of what you said, but if Woody has a decent understanding of the offense I am all for giving the young man a chance and burning he redshirt. If he is balls out he would leave by Jr anyway. If not than we can bitch and moan about our future for a full offseason.

So who's next man up? Woody, Jeremy, Tyler.... or the one who couldn't get it done against Vandy?

JF3 lead to 10 points against Vandy. They were moving the ball just fine. He just had two turnovers. And Vandy beat that shitty team we lost to Saturday, so I wouldn't say too much about that. If you think for a second that JF3 wouldn't have at least been able to pick up a few first downs and get in field goal position Saturday, Idk what to tell you.

nice try - and the two up votes

Yes, you may not know... (ie. the Idk)... although it's certainly nice to have you publicly acknowledge this out loud.

Because contrary to what I or you or the next guy's farce may be ... the truth was on game day Gus and/or Rhett thought otherwise of your assertion... that jf3 would get the job done and would have been better than the guy they selected. Even given we have the 20/20 benefit of knowing such a belief cost us a win, it does not mean it was erroneous to not have played him or for you to unequivalently state a change of event would have transpired.

Butt hurt and lack of reason aside ... you're claiming divine knowledge does not fit the argument very well.

edit: down to up

I'm certainly not against burning the redshirt. Either Woody is going to show up and show out in the next 3 seasons and 3 games (A&M, Bama, and bowl), or Gus should be able to replace him easily either at the end of his SR season or sooner. Unless he's just totally unprepared, there is no reason not to let him go play. If he mentally can't handle the fact that he might have a shitty day against Alabama, I doubt he'll be mentally tough enough to be a QB in this conference.

Just stop. You're making yourself look silly defending Gus. There is no logical defense for what we saw Saturday.

And yet Vandy lost to Missourah. This is almost certainly the worst weekend for Vandy and Auburn since I got to AU in 2012. I just feel sick to my stomach about it all.

Let's call it like it is... Mason is a disaster. He finally has an SEC game that he should win and his team doesn't show up. It's one thing to show up to an 11am showdown vs more talented teams and take them by surprise (see UGA and AU games)... It's another to play with expectations of winning.

Mason doesn't have it... Time to move on.

Not defending Gus nor even in line for the bus.

Just simply not jumping on the Franklin band wagon. There's certainly more ways of being a fan and supporting the team, than supporting your opinion, singular option, or peculiar flavor of QB. There's a reason the fastest guy on the team is not out there... we just don't know why!!!

And the ONCE POPULAR theory of saving him in case of injury - seems - to have lost a bit of it's luster.

I think Mason has upgraded from unmitigated disaster in year 1 to just incredibly frustrating in year 3. The offense is finally showing signs of life too. The game against Missouri had some very critical moments that just went wrong. There was a 4th and 2 pass from the RB that had a WIDE open receiver 5 yards away and he throws it 2 yards. The RB could have just run for the first down too. Then Missouri's final TD came on a massive push-off that was somehow called DPI, not OPI. A Vanderbilt drive near or in the red zone was ended by a pass off a TEs helmet being picked off.

Mason is not off the hook for those things, but I really do not think that result should get rid of ALL of the goodwill Mason had generated in the previous 3 games. It certainly eats away MOST of it, but there are still two more chances for Mason and this team to get him a 4th year. Shea Patterson may be able to put the nail in Mason's Vanderbilt career, but a win over UT will save most any Vanderbilt coach's job.
