Was interested in seeing how his teams have historically played against the traditional offenses while he has been at Arkansas. As most Arkansas fans will tell you, Robb Smith has a terrible time figuring out a motion offense run out of the spread, or a motion offense that has a legit threat to run at QB.

Arkansas has played 12 teams from 2014-Current that have run a "normal" or not a spread offense that typically does not have a mobile QB or does not have a ton of motion and run the zone read, etc. plays.

The numbers are interesting. When faced with an offense similar to what he runs, Bert seems to understand how to stop it, or slow it down. Only once in his tenure has a team eclipsed the 200 yard rushing mark. That was Georgia in 2014. Only one other team has eclipsed the 100 yard mark in that time frame, and that was Alabama in 2015.

Below are the numbers...

12 game average: 66 yards per game given up rushing.

2014
Alabama: 66
Georgia: 207
LSU: 36
Ole Miss: 63
Texas: 2

2015
UTEP: 58
Toledo: 81
Alabama: 134
LSU: 59
Missouri: 88

2016
Texas State: 22
Florida: 12
LSU: ?

The numbers are interesting. It also shows Bert needs to figure out how to slow down a power running spread team or a team that has a mobile QB.

Anyone taking Arkansas and Bert lightly this year obviously did not watch the previous two games between LSU/ARK. This game will be another close one I think

Pretty interesting. I still think arky will have trouble stopping the LSU run, but this gives me second thoughts.

It is, but it is also pretty head scratching to Arkansas fans.

Maybe they do, maybe they don't. We will see on Saturday. I don't think LSU will run all over Arkansas though. LSU is going to have to pass, and Arkansas has been pretty damn good against the pass this season and LSU is last in the league in passing offense.

Yep. LSU defense needs to play lights out like they did against Bama.

I agree with this 100%. LSU is so talented on defense, it will be a tough test for Arkansas's offense.

Another close one? Like 17-0 close or 31-14 close?

I hate to say it but I have to disagree with you on this one. Under Smith merely terrible against a spread option offense seems like a distant happy dream. Soul crushingly awful has been the best case scenario and its usually far worse then that.

Thankfully LSU doesn't feature that type of offense. I think LF is a tremendous football player but I think Arkansas scores just enough to pull this one out over the Bayou Bengals. Thank God we finally seem to have found a FG Kicker.

If LSUs defense plays like they did against Bama the game finishes 28-0 with 3 scores coming from LSU on D.

I'm thinking a close, somewhat low-scoring game. Avoiding costly mistakes & turnovers will be critical for both teams. This is a pretty important game for both teams, imo.

Arkansas is just so damn bi-polar it's impossible to know what to expect.

If you told me they would play like they did against ole miss and Florida and won by 2+ scores k would believe it.

If you told they would play like they did against auburn or the second half of the aggie game and lost by 2+ scores I would believe it.

arknasas just put up 24 points against teh 2nd best defense in the nation. i think we can handle yaw yaw and the fighting tigers, at home, with below 40 degree temps

Because spread teams expose our lack of speed at LB. But if you try to lineup and hit us, you'll lose.
