Even if this terror shooter were a UT season ticket holder it would still be grossly inappropriate to keep citing this horrible instance of the killing of five service members at the Navy/Marine Reserve center in Chattanooga.

I have a strong relationship with this incident because my relationship with the Marine Corps began at the old Navy/Marine Reserve center down on Meadow Street in Chattanooga.

So if 12 guys show up to gang bang your wife but she rejects one of them, do you call your buddies and tell them your wife's not a slut anymore?

No I have common sense

Apparently the NCAA enforcement arm is pretty much emasculated, but you'd think you'd have better sense than to suggest that Coach Jones was buying players.

Did you know this?

1990

Florida

Violations: Former coach Galen Hall accused of giving former defensive back Jarvis Williams $360 and providing him a ride to pay for an overdue child support bill. Hall admitted to providing transportation but denied giving Williams any money. Also, an assistant coach was cited for allegedly providing a loan of $70 to a player using money from a booster.

Major penalties: 1-year bowl ban.

Severity of sanctions: 2

Notable: Coach Steve Spurrier raged at severity of penalties. But NCAA Committee on Infractions member John Nowak implied that the Gators should feel lucky, saying, "Florida got the biggest discount, on major penalties, that's ever been given in the NCAA's history." Florida was eligible for "death penalty" as a repeat violator."

Death Penalty for UF?

Walt Walt...stop reading fiction. The truth is this...Jarvis Williams had to appear in Palakta court for child support. Thats true and a GRAD asst gave him a ride...not a coach. There was NEVER any proof that Williams was given money..I mean NO proof...but we were given sanction of missing a bowl game.
Lets really dig deeper Walt shall we? UF was put on probation for 3 years and given the most severe penalties in modern NCAA history other than SMU. We had a damn good team in 1990 with Spurriers first year...NONE of the players were ever part of the 1983-84 investigation, just so you know. Thats why Spurrier was upset...those players were not part and parcel of the penalties. But lets look at some of the things we did "wrong" honest to God we were guilty of buying a package of gum for a recruit who didnt like to fly cause of popping in his ears..we also used a booster's plane to fly a recruit to Gainesville, a plane owned by Steinbrenner...maybe you hear of him. We didnt offer $$ to said recruit...other programs did btw.

Now WHY was UF singled out in the early 1980s by the NCAA? well...same reason SMU was...even though UT, OK and others were filthy dirty. Well...the reason is simple, Tx and Fla are fertile recruiting grounds and this allowed Bowden to get a reputation when we were down...even though they are dirty as hell.

Charley Pell learned coaching from Bear Bryant and I will leave it at that. We suffered a lot of lost schollys and two years without TV appearances...who gets that now? The NCAA got flak from conferences/networks that millions of revenue could be lost if a high profile team isnt on TV. Now a tap on the wrist is all that anyone gets....but if it makes you feel good about something 31 yrs ago Walt...you are grasping at straws...we are one of better run programs. Stop being small Walt...you should be better than that...but 0-11 makes hillbilly folk crazy.

Yeah, I accidentally read Walt's posts and saw that.

Didn't know that murderer had even been linked to UT in any fashion. That's news to me.

Not something I would recommend using against a rival TBH.

God bless you and thank you for your service to our great country.

But your posts still don't make any fricking sense, and when you think you have a point about something, you really don't.

He is pretty good insight into the mental gymnastics some Vols pull to think that what happened half a century ago matters more than the last 20 or so years.

Cant help but notice that some UT posters are intrigued by pedophilia and probably obsessed with it....hmmm. Maybe a professional would be wise to talk to about fixations?
