Btw,

Does this mean that we will stop playing:

Go Rebels Go

I saw the light

Those both slip melodies of Dixie in there

There's a couple of other songs we play I can't remember the name of that we slip parts of Dixie in. Are they going to rewrite all of them? Or does Bjork not actually know the extent of what he's talking about?

They'll continue to play them because they aren't labeled "Dixie". They might rework them if somebody makes a big enough deal about them but I'd rather the motherfricker get the NCAA out of our arse before he starts tooling with cosmetic pregame routines.

Dixie and FWDWL is Ole Miss to me. Not because of any ancient meanings that some may have but because they are nice songs. I have fond memories of falls and listening to these songs. It's a shame that people that exploited these songs suck. It's also a shame that other people that cried offense to these songs also suck. People suck, we all suffer. It's just a song and I will live but I don't have to like it or agree with it. I've already started to prepare for the drop of "rebels" and eventually "Ole Miss."

Couldn't of said it better myself.

Just a quick example of what I'm talking about.

Here's our typical pre game band performance LINK

List of songs played: (whether or not Dixie is mixed in)

1. Hype chorale warm up: no
2. Forward Rebels: no
3. Dixie: duh
4. Go Rebs Go: no
5. Go Rebels Go: yes
6. Hey: no
7. FDWL variation: yes
8. I saw the light: yes

Half of the songs. There are others we play sporadically that include it too that aren't in that video. We've been building our identity around this song for, well pretty much ever. Hope the band director is creative.

That's where most of the lifetime Ole Miss fans are I think. It still makes me emotional and I'm as cynical a person as you'll encounter. The TSWRA folks ruined what was an integral part of the pregame for me. Even though it's been 7 or 8 years since they stopped playing it I still hate them for chanting it.

I'm sure they have been working on other tunes to fill the gaps. They probably reviewed the songs and pulled the trigger. We all knew this was coming. I just hope it is something good. I hated the last few years of pregame routines.

They'll go pop or jazz to cover it I surmise

We can just play Kashmir over the loud speakers for 10 minutes straight and let the bottom half of the student section saw varsity's horns off until the the team runs on the field. It will be iconic.

One job could have fixed all of this, and it was simply stop chanting TSWRA.

So they should have told drunk college kids to stop doing something? Got it.

Nah, that just expedited the death.

You can't say with a straight face it wouldn't have been gone eventually regardless.

So will we still be the Rebels by 2030? Dixie was written and composed by an Ohio Yankee fwiw

They did tell drunk college kids to stop doing it or it will be gone.

It would have eventually been gone, I agree, but it seemed pretty simple just not to say it.
