Was funny during the spring game towards the end of the first half. Saban got pissed at Jalen asking him if he really intended to run for a touchdown when he decided to scramble on 3rd and long from his own 30 with like 10 seconds left.

This kid can be electric if he pulls it all together. Really pulling for him.

Nice write up. Were we this excited about a higher rated Barnett last year?

I dont think so. Barnett didn't look like an SEC QB in the A-day day game, and I dont recall Saban trusting him to run the scout team much either.

Hurts has been mentioned by the coaches since he arrived on campus this past winter, and looked SEC-ready in the A-day game

Hurts wins the job and smashes every UA record possible in three years then goes pro.

Tua takes over as a redshirt soph.

From what I am hearing he is working his arse off in the weight room, film, etc. This might be interesting. Although it may not at all and he starts Bateman lol. When it gets a bit closer I will know more.

just dont see it at this point. Im not sure that everyone was watching the same a day game as i was, but barnett looked the best an most consistent to me. He made some great throws into tight windows, good timing, good zip, went through his progressions, was looking off the safeties, and moved the ball on almost all of his drives (not his fault we couldnt kick a field goal, or that on the one time he had a red zone opportunity the center snapped the ball 3 feet over his head). Hurts was pretty inconsistent with his accuracy. Made some good throws (td pass on the run was nice, even better catch by kief), but his biggest gain on the day was a ball that 100% should have been picked off yet somehow made it into cam sims hands. I will say hurts looked better in his first spring game than barnett did in his first spring game, but hurts didn't look ahead of barnett in this years, and that's really all we have to go on at this point. Barnett also brings the escapabilty and running element just like hurts, so that's kind of a wash, and he's finally big enough he might not break in half

Apparently we weren't watching the same game.

Let me ask you a question. How close do you think Coker was to starting over sims? Or Bateman over Coker? Similar thing is happening. With a little more time and closer to Kickoff more will come out that I can report and of course I'll watch them here and there.

I guess I have no reason not to believe you. It just seems so very unlikely.

Nick Saban once again hinted that Cooper Bateman is our guy as of right now. Still has to win the team. Fall practice is short and we have to get one of the guys ready for the season. I doubt Hurts gets near enough reps with the first offense to get a real chance to grasp the playbook let alone win the team over. If Hurts is our guy then that means we are in trouble IMO.

This is probably true. Unless Hurts is another Joe Namath, a freshman starting at QB for Alabama means there's not any upperclassmen getting the job done.

They haven't made the decision yet. They will do best guess for reps and watch. Pick "the" guy and roll forward. If it's like the last two years the number 2 guy is really 1b. Bateman and insert name, maybe he has a meltdown. What I will tell you and this is a confirmed fact, bateman throws a horrible "hot slaw" deep ball. Honestly it wasn't even that deep. That worries me, alot. And not the Blake Sims I think he can't throw deep because he doesn't but he actually can't do it.
