Seems the DA felt they didn't have a strong enough case. I'm sure you feel Bama paid off the DA. Like they do the refs, the sec office, police officers and players.

Coaching staff and Coach are the highest paid in the Nation. Richest school in history.

So I guess it was just a terrible coincidence that they found weed in the car?

The fact that y'all are trying to defend this is pretty sad.

Somehow folks just don't realize that cases like this are thrown out every day, and most of the time. No DA is going to waste his time on a gram or less of weed with four guys in the car, none of whom will claim it, or on a gun that he can't prove the owner knew was stolen.

Believe it or not, this case would have been thrown out whether the guys were football players or not.

This is gold!! I only have a problem with his explanation of his decision having to do with some working in air conditioning versus being outside in the heat. Pre-trial diversion or even dropping the case altogether would have been better than his attempt at explaining why.

But this meltdown is hilarious:

bammer and their boosters have totally ruined the game of college football forever, and it is a crying shame why one college has, and is allowed, so much power over other schools. bammer is the isis of college football

I see that you've now gone from defender of the minority, the downtrodden and the have-nots, to the steel fisted, "put 'em all in jail" DA! pathetic!

I can understand LSU fans being a little salty, but let's face it, the Aubs are taking this a whole lot harder.

Maybe over on ITAT, but I haven't seen much here about it. Frankly, IDGAF.

I'm laughing at how the Bama fans love this. Not like I give a shite whether they lose a player or not...but they are giddy like a little middle school girl on a date with the HS QB that one of their best players is getting away with an obvious felony.

Bama fans have no standing to criticize Scam Newton or "crab claws" Winston. Their team is far more crooked than both AU and FSU if Nick lets Cam play.

Is it too late to add this one to the bunch?

A good lawyer can destroy the "I smell weed" argument every time. Especially when the incident report is as deficient as that one.

Not only that but the REC has managed to get all the other SEC schools to go along with it. It is awesome

I am getting ready to head out in the heat to work and sweat today. What is the best weed and illegal firearm should I bring with me today? Just curious, thanks.

I really havn't seen that many LSU fans melting on this. Most seem to have expected the outcome to resemble what transpired. Maybe it's just me, who the hell knows.

I really don't care if Bama has their guy or not.

But their fans are a bunch of damned hypocrites if they criticize another program for corruption after their fanboi response to this obvious payoff to the Monroe DA.

Ole Miss' Tunsil fiasco is a far less egregious offense, despite the fact I can't stand Ole Miss.

I hope they are updating the meltdown page on the fly. The righteous indignation for a victimless crime is erotic right now.

How did this prevent you guys from recruiting talented QBs?

Just out of curiosity -- and I don't ask you to be honest with us, just with yourself -- is there literally any outcome to this whole thing that you would have considered legitimate other than a summary conviction? I mean, can you even imagine accepting the idea that a cop fricked up or that a DA thought the case was unsustainable?

I didn't post that the DA was paid, but it's an interesting question, so I'll respond. I can definitely envision either of those scenarios...happens all the time. I don't want to speak for others but what bothers me the most is the DA's statement. Not necessarily that the charges were dropped. If there's insufficient evidence, fine. So be it. But his statement doesn't suggest that was the reason. When he says he "refuses to ruin the lives of two young men who have been sweating while we're in the air conditioner" (I'm paraphrasing), that sort of thinking doesn't bother you?

As somebody who lives in Monroe I can tell you this is going terrible for the DA today. Like he might lose his job. His quote that "he didn't want to ruin the lives of two men who spent their adolescent years sweating outside when the rest of us were in the air conditioning" is not going over well. It's all over everything and social media is picking it and running with it. I'm not saying the players should have got in more trouble but that was a hilariously stupid thing to say. All kind of backlash is coming today and is already raining down ha.

You're an idiot. If the police picked up guys in your neighborhood with drugs and stolen weapons I am sure you would just say, "boys will be boys"

Les also kept Mathieu around for quite a while despite repeated drug test failures.

I wonder if Saban decided to drug test his star player after this incident. Since he was you know, in a car with an ounce at 3am smoking

And if he did, will he punish cam from in house test results? No one knew anything about Matheiu besides what les put out there. Suspending him SO year and kicking him off before JR year.
