Muschamp - Columbia a real city

quote:

"I think a huge strength of ours is the city of Columbia," Muschamp told the crowd in Charleston on May 24. "The diversity, the culture that we have, there actually is a town where our college is. You ever been to Auburn? There's so much to sell in (Columbia). Just kidding about Auburn."

He probably regrets saying that.

It's true. I have a degree from Auburn. It's basically a big cow pasture with some academic buildings.

I can't wait until the first time Columbia lets him down and he just starts berating it on national tv like a mad man.

Maybe he can get a job at Temple when SC fires, since he needs a big city to be successful.

I hope Spurrier is emailing Muschamp ideas for little digs to throw around to keep his shite talkin' spirit alive.

At Auburn, Muschamp got paid a record salary for a coordinator and produced no results. The most remarkable part of his tenure there was becoming the first coordinator I've ever seen get an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Honestly, he should be apologizing to Auburn, not insulting them.

It's almost like coaches sell what they have and throw shade at what others have.

To be fair, it did sound like an innocent joke that he then probably laughingly took back 30 seconds later.

Columbia is the armpit of South Carolina.

I could understand boasting about his new city if it were Greenville or Charleston, but not sure Columbia is much better than Auburn. Bigger? Sure. Better? I would probably pick Auburn. Of course if I rated all the college towns of the SEC, Nashville & Athens would be at the top... Starkville at the bottom. Columbia and Auburn would both be in between. But Columbia would be in the bottom half and Auburn would be in the top half, IMO.

The thing that made Spurrier's stichk work so well was that people respected him. He won and could back up the talk most of the time, but the thing that put him over the top was that he would trash talk and poor mouth his own team just as mercilessly if they screwed up. The fact that he could take his own lumps so well bought him more respect.

I have a hard time believing Muschamp has that in him.

This will be Muschamps last ride. If he couldn't be successful at Florida, how in the world will he do ANYTHING in SC?

Really hoping this thread causes a spinoff "Ranking of SEC towns/cities" thread..

Nothing excites me more than another thread of chest thumping and ranking of a few overrated cow towns.
