His coaching tree that is.

1st how long does one need to coach under another to be considered the latter's tree?

Once that's figured out who's in the tree?

Muschamp? But he also coached under Mack Brown. Which tree?

Derek Dooley: UT coaching legend, just edged out Botch as my favorite UT head coach.

Jimbo Fisher

Coach Mac? He wasn't under Saban for too long was he? 3 years?

Mark Dantonio

Kirby; no doubt about this one.

So who's the best now? I guess Jimbo at this point.

Who do you predict will finish being the most successful?

ETA: The Doolander.

The resurrection of Joey Freshwater will go down as even greater than the bama return to dominance.

Fisher has the ring, but honestly I think Dantonio is a superior coach. Michigan State, sandwiched between Michigan and OSU as they are, is a very tough place to win consistently.

Saban's tree is a bonsai. He likes to rest in its shade on long summer afternoons.

Really, you didn't see that one coming?

Fisher comes under the Bowden's.
Muschamp coached under Tuberville, Brown and Saban, but was considered a Bill Oliver protege.

I would say the following are firmly "Saban" guys

- Will Muschamp
- Jim McElwain
- Kirby Smart
- Derek Dooley

All 4 of those guys either coached with him for most of their careers or were elevated to the level where they could get a big job by coaching with him for multiple years. They also all attempted/will attempt to implement some level of his management style to their programs.

cant give him Jimbo since he is already in the Bowden tree. he gets Muschamp and butter teeth. the best would have to be Kirby since he just scored the best job in the universe according to Saban and Spurrier, duh.

Still not as impressive as the Hayden Fry coaching tree

Off the top of my head -

Bill Snyder
Barry Alvarez
Every Stoops brother
Bert Bielema
Kirk Ferentz
Dan McCarney
Jim Leavitt

Even Urban Meyer and all his guys could be considered a smaller branch off the Hayden Fry tree

anyone who coached under him experienced his style, which is second to none. Jimbo is the best right now, due to succcess. Kirby will be imo
