It’s a square peg in a round hole. He’s out of his element with how we run, but he plays hard. I can’t fault a guy that’s trying.

I see his scoring as a bonus. I’m only disappointed in him when he’s got like 4 boards in 28 minutes

Wiley has a role on this team...if he hits foul shots at 70% or better that will be important when we play teams that can guard us out front. I realize he may not be the savior we hoped, but he is a key part of our team this year and last year.

"Austin will never be good" Well I said this two years ago and about everyone on here wanted me banned from this site.

My moment of clarity came while watching team usa games and comparing it to practice clips.

In the practice clips Wiley looked dominate AF. What became clear later though is any possession Wiley had position his defender effectively conceded the play. No undersized 6'10 190lb 18year old string bean was trying to Aggressively contest in practice a jacked, athletic 260lb man child

In games though, Wiley struggled when contested and rarely was able to finish contested opportunities. He was not the guy the practice clips showed

I don't know what causes it, but his hands are a problem . I simply do not understand how a guy with his hand size and strength cannot hold on to the ball to finish. That's before you consider his ability to catch the ball

All that said, Wiley is a valuable piece on our team and has a role to play. He isn't the superhero we hoped but we need him to play to his actual best ability to succeed

I think you’re dead on. I suspect he spent his whole life having teams concede to him once he got the ball down low and has never adjusted to people actually trying.

A little early still but what do we think about this team so far?

Okoro is a real talent.

Samir is a player. CBP is finding roles for guys.
J’von is not Harper, but he’s finding his rhythm.
Wiley, Mclemore, and Purifoy are filling their roles.

Looks like Johnson will be the shooter off the bench.
Turbo will get more minutes as he recovers.

This is a different team, but I trust CBP to find the chemistry and sort out the minutes for about 8 to 10 guys depending on the opponent and who is available.

We’re just dismantling teams that returned starters and project to win their league.

Side note, I was impressed by that European for Colgate. He played well in the first half but just had no help

Moving forward Okoro needs to step up rebounding. He has a lower D rebounding rate than JVon McCormick right now.

I don't even care as long as he keeps locking people up.

Meh. As long as his man or rotation isn’t getting the rebound his D Reb% doesn’t really matter

I’m really curious as to why I’m getting downvoted for asking an honest question.
Because Brother Chette is as Auburn as Auburn gets & some of us expect anyone who has been an AU fan for any real length of time to have that knowledge of him.

I think there was an epic battle between arse Jang & Good Jang at some point. Good Jang won & arse Jang got sent to an alternate universe or the phantom zone.

He's mostly if not fully recovered. Him getting more minutes will depend on how well he picks up the offense as a PG. Bruce said not long ago that we actually recruited & signed Turbo as a 2 guard. Bruce was expecting Jared to stay all 4 years til not long before Jared decided to go pro. Turbo is playing out of position a bit right now as a PG.
