State's AD sent out an update about future upgrades to our facilities. He said they expect the Dudy Noble renovation to start the summer of 2017. He also said there will be upgrades for our coliseum and football stadium.
I'm mostly excited about the Dudy Noble reno; it's going to look pretty awesome.
Here's the link if anyone is interested:

Will you have to get rid of your big-arse screen?

I think the long term plan for DWS is to have 4 smaller screens in the corners like BDS

The design team is far enough along in planning the new Dudy Noble Field/Polk-DeMent Stadium to have a more accurate cost estimate. Initially, IHL approved a $40 million stadium project budget. However, we now expect that cost to be higher, so this month we will make a request of IHL to increase the budget to $55 million. Once that approval is gained, and fundraising targets are met, plans will be put in motion to begin constructing the new ballpark in June 2017. Our goal is to have enough construction in place by Spring 2018 to allow the baseball team to be able to play at the current site throughout the process.
That makes sense. When I first saw the design and price, I thought "No chance in hell".

How do you dispose of a large screen like that? Repurpose?

Depends. A&M put a new screen in in 2006. By 2013 is was so out of date, it was cheaper to get rid of it & built a new one than to move it to the baseball field.

I really have no idea.
It may be the case that they've changed the original plans and will keep the screens over the endzones.

While we're talking MSU, if I was stupid rich and a State fan, I would own a loft.
To me this is just a unique addition.

A revolutionary idea that caught the attention of sports fans nationwide, the new Left Field LoftsTM are the ultimate way to experience a Mississippi State Baseball game. Each Left Field LoftTM includes approximately 1,000 square feet of living space that includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, common area and a porch that overlooks the “Carnegie Hall of College Baseball”.
Cost: $50,000 annual Bulldog Club obligation per Loft ($20,000 deposit per Loft – Plus a monthly maintenance/utility fee estimated at $1,200 per month, subject to change)

Should upgrade their recruiters like Ole Miss

That is too bad. I guess there is not enough interest. It may work better in a bigger city.

I believe the $50,000 per year is a 10 year commitment. Pretty salty in the economy we find ourselves.

And there are 24 of them (from the pics) @ 50K a year for 10 years = 12 M.
That is a little much for baseball, but if it works that is an extra 1.2 M a year in rev for baseball.

The baseball stadium will be very nice. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Does Left Field Lounge stay as is for the 2017 season?

The cinnamon roll dome is a classic.

My understanding is that you don't repurpose them. I remember our AD saying that the cost to transport it intact, set it all back up, test/program/lock all the technical stuff into place is more than it's worth. So they just get scrapped.
Also, I think they're leased. As in: the universities don't own them - they just pay a fee for a contracted period of use and then the company - Mitsubishi or Daktonics or whatever - comes and takes it apart to sell off as scrap electronics for the copper or rare earth minerals and what have you.

Essentially recycled.

The two megatrons aren't going anywhere for a long time. The left field lofts will be in place long before either big screen gets dismantled.
