Our best team is Alabama, yours is Tennessee.
Our worst teams are State and TA&M, yours are Vandy and Missouri.
Big difference in both of those.

The SEC east was the worst division in college football last year. Half the division had losing records.
South Carolina lost to an FCS school, Missouri lost to Vandy and Kentucky, Georgia got butt fricked by Alabama at home, Florida had to take a 3-9 C-USA team to OT at home, and Tennessee managed to lose two games last year up 17 in the 4th quarter.

Look at the head-to-head matches between SECE teams and SECW teams. SECW was 12-2 or 11-3, I think, in 2015? It was similar in 2014. The SECW has provided the SEC champions 7 straight years. The SECW has dominated the SECE for awhile now.

The problem is the top teams in our division can get to the level of competing with their cross-division rivals but does anyone believe that Vandy will ever get good enough to challenge OM again or that UK will challenge Mullen at MSU? OM has taken a step forward that has coincided with Vandy taking a huge step back and if it lasts that series will never be even again. The same looks to be true with MSU and UK.
The Mississippi schools sudden progress more than anything else is why the West is dominate and may continue to be even if things even out elsewhere.
