He made millions off football and advertising. He's a household name. A celeb. Can get into any club he wants. He has been to tons of Super Bowls. Has 2 rings, yet he wants more? how selfish!!!

Why would you cry over retiring because you can't make more money. there's children starving in this country right now and people who are struggling everyday yet this guy gets up there and wants everyone to sympathize with him. give me a freakin break!!! He should be grateful

He's crying because his legacy is tarnished. This sexual assault case has changed most Americans view of him

Elite athletes don't do it for the money or the fame. The ones who care more about money than team success never reach the pinnacle. (See Carmelo Anthony)

The best of the best have a drive to compete on the highest level all the time. And when their bodies inevitably begin to fail them it's soul-crushing. It's hard for them to just "walk away while on top".

I guess we're criticizing people who actually want to put in more work now. Amazing.

You wanna see selfish? Look no further than the guy who was drafted right after him.

He owns 21 Papa John's locations. The average franchisee owned Papa John's makes nearly $800K/year. The average owner sees 1/4 of that. Peyton makes - if his franchise locations are "average" - $200K per location x 21 locations = $4.2M per year for his ownership stake. He also will continue to endorse - and be paid to do so - Papa John's.

His Nationwide endorsement deal will continue. His Gatorade endorsement will continue.

He has ownership stake in two Budweiser distributorships in Louisiana that will continue to make him money. He likely has countless other investments that aren't publicly known.

Manning will likely make $15-20M annually without ever playing another down of football. Congrats to him. the OP stinks.

I fail to see how wanting to reach the pinnacle of success as many times as possible in a sport you've dedicated your life to is "selfish." Draymond Green recently said that winning the NBA finals last year was "better than sex." For a competitor like Peyton, I'm sure he would certainly agree in regards to the SB. Those moments are what he's worked his whole life for.

He can and will make plenty more money. Papa John's alone will assure him of that. And it's very presumptuous of you to think his emotion is due to money. It's far more likely that his emotion is due to no longer physically being able to perform at a high level in the sport he's played day in and day out since he was a child. Money is probably the least of his concerns with how much he already has.
