My son does not seem to want to go to college so it looks like I saved for 20 fricking years for nothing.

Same here except I'm just paying as I go.

My kid is making $200-$400 a day waiting tables part time. Its hard to convince her that college is important.

Have your kid talk to me. I have plenty of experience waiting tables and I can tell you there is no future in it. It may sound great and the money is easy, but when you hit your 30's and all your friends are out with their SO's and enjoying life on a Friday night and you're slinging sweet tea and apps, it sucks. So glad I went back to school and only have 2 semesters left.

Well, my kid is making $8.00 / hour at West Marine.

Like I told him, if he decides not to go, I will just retire three years earlier. Very simple

If you took money out of the equation would it still be hard to convince him/her?
