SO, Les Miles is going to get paid $15 million to leave baton Rouge over the next 7 years at about $2 million per year. ANd will be hired somewhere 5 minutes after being fired....making another $4-$5 million or so per year on top of that.
So, Miles will topple Saban as the highest paid college coach in the county.......BY GETTING FIRED.
Les Miles is a genius. LINK..........

Normally contracts stipulate that LSU will only have to pay him $15M if he doesn't get hired somewhere else. If he does get hired, they will only have to pay the balance after his new salary is taken into account.

I don't think that's how it works.
Also, I'm hearing Miles has already reached out to USCe through his agent to express interest depending on how his situation develops.

I know that language exists in some buyout clauses, but if LSU will have to pay him the full amount no matter what...he has got it made in the shade.

I don't think so. It doesn't make any sense. At least not for top coaches with multi-million dollar salaries who have agents that aren't just their cousin or something.

It varies from contract to contract obviously, but it does exist.

Though some of Chizik's buyout could be offset by future employment – if he got another job next year, for instance, Auburn would only owe him the difference between his new and old salary – it is still an increasingly expensive proposition to change coaches, especially in the pressure-packed SEC.

Chizik probably uses a cousin for his agent then.

Chizik pulled off the ultimate con. Came in, won a natty with other coaches' players and Cam, who they paid for. Was ousted right away and was paid handsomely to leave. A very lucrative few years.

I will wait to hear something from a reliable source like Peter Buck, if you don't mind.

Yeah, we common folks have been doing it wrong the whole time.

USC people seem to think Les Miles Will be their coach come next Sunday.

Les Miles buyout goes down to 12 million if they just wait until January 1st to fire him.

Pretty soon CFB HCs will be paid per win and will be given half-year contracts. At least the ones in the SEC anyway.

That's a pretty good outcome for us...Les at SC doesn't scare me.
