They count it along with a title from Weekly Reader and two from the National Enquirer

Of course. Major poll title.

The Arab Tribune and The Sand Mountain Reporter named them NC that year, so it is ok to claim it as a NC

Considering they were awarded the Coaches Poll National Championship before that game occurred why would they not?

ask notre dame about 1966

Why wouldn't Alabama count a major poll title?

well they won the coaches poll and literally no school has ever won one of the major polls and not claimed the title so absolutely.

Actually it was the UPI. Bowl games were exhibition games.

Which compensates for 1966? Or 1945?

I thought that Sugar Bowl was a 1-2 match up of unbeatens. Correct?
If I'm correct, the winner would logically by all rights be the real National Champion.
Unsporting to feel otherwise, to my way of thinking.
