Can VOLS run the football on Alabama?

Alabama is allowing only 70 yards per game on the ground while Tennessee is #2 in tSEC averaging over 220 per game. This will be the key if Tennessee is going to have a shot to win this game.

I have a feeling ol' Debord tries forcing the run over and over without trying to establish the downfield pass. I expect to see read option left/right and screens until halftime.

It's gonna be interesting to say the least. Bama has had some trouble in the past against quarterbacks that can run. The bigger issue is I don't think we can stop their run game. I think Bama runs for over 200 plus yards on us Saturday.

It's gonna be tough for almost anyone to run on our front 7. Just the way it is.
Hurd and Kamara are two talented backs for sure though. And we do struggle with running QB's.

Tennessee will get crushed if they have to RELY on their run game. But if they can hit early downfield passes and force us to play nickel, maybe they can run well enough to at least keep us honest.

They have the type of running attack that can. A physical, hard runner in Hurd, and a QB that can get out of the pocket and make some runs. They'll top 70 yards, but not sure they can get to their 220 average. I'll say they'll end up with about 150 yards rushing.

Our offensive strategy hinges on Dobbs imo. He has to hit some passes and get a few positive running gains to make this work. Will get ugly early if not.
As mentioned by another, our defense v. Bama offense scares the shite out of me.

If Tennessee has Alabama's "attention", they won't run...nor pass. If the Tide's looking down the road, anything could happen.

Read option, but Dobbs isn't gonna be breaking 20-30 yard runs. But they're gonna respect Hurd enough to get 5-10. We may break 130 rushing, but that's not gonna be enough.
Here's the other problem, unlike Georgia, Bama has quality depth in that front 7, we won't be able to wear the defense down.

Hurd is a pretty good RB. With Dobbs being a threat as a runner, I think we'll see UT move the chains a due to the fact that accounting for a physical guy like Hurd up the middle, then having to watch out for Dobbs cutting it to the outside will be hard to contain
Still though, UT's offensive line has had its woes all year and Alabama's front 7 has been physical at the point of attack and fast at getting to the ball carrier. Tim Williams at JACK is having an underrated year.

Shouldn't be too pessimistic. Games like these could be considered trap games. Tennessee sitting home on a bye; Alabama coming off a big win on the road; defense playing two back-to-back HUNH can cause fatigue. Also take into consideration that Bama has struggled at home this year.

Absolutely agree. Tennessee won't gain a yard. As a matter of fact the 306 yards a game that Alabama is showing to give up per SEC game is a result of a glitch in the computers at the SEC office. Someone needs to look into this.
Don't worry man everyone knows that Alabama hasn't given up a positive yardage play all season.
