Hurd is a pretty good RB. With Dobbs being a threat as a runner, I think we'll see UT move the chains a due to the fact that accounting for a physical guy like Hurd up the middle, then having to watch out for Dobbs cutting it to the outside will be hard to contain

Hurd goes to the edge. Dobbs is more likely to go through the middle when there's an opening but also goes the edge on more designed runs. We don't run between the tackles much. We're a spread team in that we spread the field and force defenses to run the width and length of the field but we don't do it with a typical passing spread but rather a power running spread.

As for our OL, they've been surprisingly improved, particularly at run blocking. They suck at pass pro tho.

was going to say if UT is going to have any success moving the ball it will have to start with QB runs. Let Dobbs run it til we have to adjust, and then take advantage of Bama'a adjustments from the

Bama has had problems defending the read option in the past so a heavy dose of that is probably the Vols best option... if you will pardon the pun there. Dobbs will need to get some runs off to keep the Bama defense in check but it is doable. Brandon Allen isn't known for his breakaway speed but he kept a couple of drives alive vs Bama by scrambling.

My guess is the Vols break 70 yards rushing unless this is a complete nightmare of a game for them. I don't think they hit 220 though.

A warning to Tenn fans in this thread...do not, I repeat, do not base your rushing success against Bama based on what you did against UGA...

Its simple, we suck, and they don't

Thanks

Y'all keep downplaying things. We put up over 250+ rushing against Florida.

If you are having issues in the OLine you are dead vs this defense

Our run blocking has been pretty decent. We are awful in pass protection. Funny how we can never seem to put two and two together.

Watch out then...Bama's dline LOVES to swat down passes. Those guys have aggression and get their big paws up to disrupt passes like I haven't seen in a long time.

They avg'd 4 yds per carry against Ark (only 33 rushes). I'll take 4 all day long against any team.

The Arkansas game was an anomaly but we had no problem running it on you when we tried. Oddly enough, Dobbs didn't run it that game and we didn't try to run Hurd in the latter half of the game (we barely had the ball to do so).

I am glad you are into quants, but they still play the games on the field.
