Saw it scroll across on ESPNU just now..

Saban at Bama:
15-6 vs Top 10, 4-1 on road w only loss being Kick Six

Miles at LSU:
15-15 vs Top 10, 1-3 vs Florida

Interesting.

So, Saban is a better coach than Miles? I don't think anyone is arguing the contrary at this point.

It is interesting. Bama has played an average of 2.47 top 10 opponents annually since Saban arrived. LSU has played an average of 2.86 top 10 opponents under Miles. Not much of a difference, really.

15-15 is still an amazing record against top ten competition. You can't compare every boxer to Muhammed Ali.

Another interesting stat from ESPN:

Alabama has faced 25 teams off a bye week since 2007. The next most in the country is 15. The next most in the SEC is 10. Alabama is 19-6 in those games.

I dont understand.

Saban has clearly had better teams therefore more likely to beat those teams.....

Saban and Bama have done a much better job of positioning recruiting ins such a way that year to year, there is very little drop-off.

Granted, it is all a coaching stat, but the teams were very much different.

Wow. Miles has played 30 games against top 10. That's crazy.

8-11 for Saban and 10-16 for Miles against teams that finished in the top 10.

bama has been top 10 probably each year since 2008 when LSU played them. LSU probably half those years. That's at least 3 or 4 more top ten match ups for LSU.

This puts an awesome perspective on how good LSU was in 2011. They had wins against 4 top 10 teams in that one season.

Miles is Saban, but we all knew that. Miles is still a solid coach.

Take LSU vs Bama out of the numbers. I would like to then see how it looks.
