I've heard Travis Williams as a possible LB Coach. He's a QC at Auburn, a Columbia native. He also coached LBs for the bowl game as well.

Who is on the short list?
I don't know for sure. I've read a few names, but i don't think clear short list has emerged yet. Muschamp is looking for another solid recruiter though.
Some names I've seen or think that might need to be looked at:
Travis Williams
Chris Kiffin
Corey Bell
Rod Wilson
John Papuchis
Bradley Dale Peveto

If Will Muschamp’s staff reminds you of Auburn next season, there will be good reason.
According to Auburn beat writer Brandon Marcello, Tigers defensive analyst Kyle Krantz will join Muschamp at South Carolina as a quality control assistant:

Fellow Auburn beat guy James Crepea noted that it is the fifth member of the Auburn football staff that Muschamp has carried with him:

Can't say I blame them for jumping ship.

Looking over the recent hires in Asst Coaches, it's pretty apparent SC has dominated miami, uga, and mizzou.
I have no idea what Richt is doing down there in miami, he hired his son...I can tell you from watching SC, that is not going to end well. He did hit a homerun with his DL hire, and Thomas Brown was a solid hire as well. He fired a legendary S&C Coach. He got Stacy Searels to coach OL from Va Tech though, and that's a good hire. Overall, not terrible, but his son and firing the S&C Coach were head scratchers.
Smart has NOT delivered anyone that was thought to be on his list for potential Asst's to bring. He has not assembles the staff people thought he could bring, but he hasn't made a bunch of terrible hires (just not awesome.) Napier, Cochran and Lupoi are not going to uga, and those are guys I was hoping he would've brought here had he took our job. Eagles OL Coach Stoutland is out at the Eagles now, but they already hired this huge fat man, Sam Pittman. Pittman is a decent hire though, he recruited well for being at unc and ark. They got a recruiting director, Marshall Maclow, with mostly west coast experience. James Coley was great hire for WR Coach, he can flat out recruit. They hired Dell McGee to coach RB, he was at Ga Southern running their triple option offense, he's an unproven recruiter though. They kept Rocker, that was a homerun. I don't know how Sherrer that well. He got a good recruit last year and this year, but he only has a bunch of guys under him now in recruiting, b/c the other coaches left. So I think it's fair to say he's an unproven (or new) recruiter as well.
mizzou's situation is laughable. They got a HC that nobody in the country even thought of for their vacancy, then they get a DL coach from So Cal who was essentially told to walk b/c he had all that talent and meh results. Then they hired the OC from Utah State, who didn't have a good season, and who was previously fired from oklahoma. Then they let their stud DL coach go to miami.
Muschamp brought in 2 recruiters who have a total of 3 National Recruiter of the Year awards in BMac and Lance Thompson. He also brought in TRob who without question, has been the best recruiter on SC's staff in 2 years and who is a southern Florida elite recruiter. He kept Ellott, who was the best OL Coach we've had since Dave DeGuglielmo, and who is a proven recruiter/developer of talent. He brings back Ellis Johnson to help with off the field coaching/evaluations/game prep/film evals. He gets Hutzler from BC after they were a top Spec Teams unit in the country, and he has a history of top level units. There are 2 ?'s though with Roper and Bentley. Roper had great success at Duke and can recruit NC really well. He was having success at UF until injuries killed their '14 team, and they were playing walk-ons at OL. To be fair, Bentley would be a bad hire at any Div 1 school outside of SC and clemson, b/c his expertise in recruiting is going to come down to his SC connections and being known as one of the best HS HC's in SC all time. He's an unproven recruiter as well, except he has an elite QB son, so that would be nice.
Dillman as the S&C Coach was a homerun, if we weren't getting a guy named Cochran. He had ties to IMG Academy and has been a S&C Coach on 2 different national championship teams.
To summarize: WTF mizzou, lol?!?! Miami, nepotism will destroy you, but you found some decent hires. UGA isn't terrible so far, but it wasn't what people thought Smart could do, and I doubt they're over the moon about the current situation. Muschamp assembled the best staff of recruiters we've ever had and a staff that can compete at the top of the SEC in recruiting...and he's still got 1 spot left. So far, Muschamp has assembled the best staff out of anyone.

Some Auburn fan on twitter with a huge case of butthurt posted earlier he was wondering if we were going to take their equipment managers and field crew as well.

Well, we still have the $ to do that. Tanner is writing checks, we are spending more now on the Asst's and Support staff than we ever have.

I'm ready for us to announce a new QC Coach for the DL to help Lance Thompson. I haven't seen his name mentioned anywhere, but if this happens I believe we would hit a homerun.
John Abraham
It's time to come home John, those 5 Pro Bowl years were amazing.
Really, we'd be hard pressed to find a better QC for the DL. 5 time Pro Bowler, 3 Time All Pro, 15 year NFL career, 100+ Sacks, played in ATL for a number of years, those HS players in the metro will know him...he could absolutely look these recruits in the eye and say, "I know what it takes to get to the NFL, have a decade long career and be an All Pro, and I could help you do it too."

Auburn defensive analyst Kyle Krantz has joined the USC coaching staff as defensive qc coach per AL.com.
Damn...Auburn barely has any staff left. For a coach that "sucked" according to them, a hellvalot of their staff came to USC with him.

I'm loving all the off field movement. So much potential coming from what looked to be a downward spiral.

Lance Romance made it to town tonight ... big meetings in the morning. And he updated his twitter bio.
Everyone came in from their vacations everywhere. Everyone is here.

MF'ing this.
Abraham is my favorite NFL Gamecock, my favorite Falcon, and one of the best D-linemen of the last 25 years.
If he wants a connection to the program again, I'd love to have him involved. If in a defensive end prospect, I'd listen to anything he had to say.

Muschamp told 247 today that he's planning on helping to coach a position, much like SOS did with QB's in his career. This is big news for us too, that gives us more options, b/c he could absolutely coach ILB's or DE's. We could hire another stud DB Recruiting Coach. We have even more options now, he's looking for another Ace Recruiter for the staff.

I hope we keep the S&C Staff on a fair and accountable/measurable progress monitoring system Watching the product of athletic development from Fitz to Connelly was frustrating.
I'd be all for it if Muschamp wanted to bring in some outside consultants to measure and evaluate the student athletes' athletic development before and after winter workouts and over the summer workouts as well.
I think that would be money really well spent. It would suck to find out in September that our guys are out of shape, fat, unconditioned for the SEC level, etc.... An independent consultant could let us know how well they guys are advancing this winter and spring and adjustments could be made if necessary.
