Comcast Vs Direct TV

Meet a guy who works for Direct TV in corporate sales at airport bar between flights. He talked some pretty good deals bundling TV, internet (through AT&T) and mobile (Verizon which I am already on) and the NFL network thrown in.
I actually like Comcast when it is set up correctly (TV and internet now) but it is pricey.
Feedback on experience with Direct TV please.

Just bundled my DTV bill with my ATT wireless bill and it went down $10 a month for a year. I'm happy with them

AT&T internet sucks compared to Comcast, if that matters to you.

DTV was great except for the two times a year I had to call their customer support line.

Agreed. We actually have Direct TV for TV and got Comcast for internet. We had DSL and it just blows.

Comcast > Internet in most areas.
The trick is to negotiate (which you can) the best up front deal and make sure you get the newest equipment with the deal. See what the shortest contract you can get is.
Every time your contract is up...call and cancel. Within a day they will call you back and you can get all new equipment and a much better deal. Ask for the moon.
The last time I did this with DTV they knocked 30 a month off my bill for the year and gave me all new equipment + some premium channels.

Direct TV is typically cheaper and very good quality from my experiences. They also typically give you a free Sunday ticket on your first years subscription. If you call them and tell them exactly what channels you want (like if you just want HBO and not the zillion other channels) they can usually get it for you pretty cheap. I haven't ever had their internet so can't speak about that.

We're getting ready to fire Uverse after nearly six years, I fear. They replaced the service in coming into the house at the beginning of the summer, and apparently never put the bury order in on the new line TWICE. I've given them till Thursday EOB to have somebody put this damned thing in the ground, or I'm moving us to Comcast.

I used DirectTV for many years. Then I switched to DISH. I like DISH better. Less expensive and better customer service. I don't use them for internet as I need to have service even in bad weather.

its all good in the beginning...but then the rates balloon and you basically have to leave and come back to get those prices again...I have DTV and enjoy it...but will be going back Dish next time around and I play them back and forth like this...don't have Comcast here...

ATT was supposed to burn my cable for 6 years now. They came out 3 times and each time they called the order in. Still waiting for that to happen

Pretty pathetic that this happened to me too except 2 weeks later the HOA just straight up cut the cable. I was beyond furious

I hate Direct TV. I laugh every time that "TV from Space" commercial comes on. With that said.....I moved into a neighborhood that has a Direct TV package built into my HOA fees so it would be stupid not to go with that so I begrudgingly am.

DirecTv crushes everything offered in Athens. I hate Charter but still use the for the internet. DirecTv has sports done right.

Man I want in on this thread! I'll just sum things up in a nutshell,I had Comcast for 15 years, and besides absolutely NO customer service, you can Google which company has the worst customer service, hands down everytime it's Comcast,I actually told a Manager on the phone that everytime I ever had to call them,my Blood-Pressure went up.
Plus at Comcast, not only do you have to pay out the arse just to have their service, they actually make you get a seperate HD Box.I switched to Direct TV 3 Months ago,and I could not be happier. You get three free boxes, one of which is a DVR that can be used at any drop you have in Your home,AND ALL channels are in HD,It's a no brainer, you will love Direct TV.They do tend to get spotty when a significant storms comes through, but it;s worth it.
