Wasn't even on the job for 2 years, they might have a hard time getting a well established AD.

Don't see Jurich leaving Louisville, where he's worshiped. Don't see Luck leaving the NCAA, where he's angling to eventually replace Emmert. Not for a job that didn't even give the previous occupant 2 full years before swinging the ax.

I'm worried they'll take Jason Cook aka the guy that helped Loftin guide us into the SEC and marketing genius.
I hope we retire Hyman and promote him before we let that happen.
Luck is in line to replace Emmert so I don't see him leaving for tu

OM better watch out or they might lose Bjork.
If I were going to poach an SEC AD, it would be Bjork.

I don't think the horns would be able to swallow their pride enough to hire Cook. Especially since he has no experience as an AD.

How many tweets does the sips HR dept get asking for Hyman/Alleva/etc to be considered?
They should make it an online poll, AD with the most nominations wins the job.

They should really talk to MIke Alden, he's great at scheduling cup cakes like the sips will need to put up some wins.

They hire a recruiting firm who provides them one candidate--Oliver Luck. A sip alum who is well-respected and knows something about the business.
But instead they hire a "friend of a friend" who is now gone after 22 months.
Instead of wasting $$$ on a firm and ignoring their recommendations, they may as well do an online poll. I don't think they could do any worse.

Mack Brown as AD?

I'll take the job. Thanks to my time here on the Rant, I know stuff nobody at Texas knows. I know that Saban desperately wants to coach there. I know that Texas has a lot of money and can hire anybody they want at a moment's notice. And I know that the Longhorn Network is a sign of their damning hubris.
With my arcane insider knowledge, I will have Texas joining and taking over the SEC within weeks.

Auburn fan base would come up with money for someone to take Jay Jacobs.

Take this to a big 12 board. Nobody in the SEC gives a shite!
Texas isn't as flush with cash as everyone believes. They only sold 45,000 season tickets.
A lot of the lhn money is siphoned off to stronghorns famed "why we're better than everybody else" studies program.
stronghorn is well on their way to Ga Tech status athletically.

Stolen from tmc94's post on our board

He's not a likable guy but their AD job isn't that great right now. Patterson innocuously dropped the bomb that fiscal 2014, despite enormous revenue numbers, the Texas AD lost about $5m. He explained it away that they had $50m in reserve and it was related to the buyout of Mack Brown so no big deal. But, since then...
- they lost about 10k season ticket holders. The official tickets sold vs Rice was 86,458 (their lowest paid attendance in 2014 was 92,017 vs ISU)
- they fired Barnes and hired Shaka including a buyout for both. Not sure the numbers but they also increased their ongoing coaching salaries
- they have now fired Patterson to the tune of $6m
So let's say they average 6k below last year's attendance (which is probably generous as UNT was their opener last year and it outdrew ISU plus this season may get ugly) with price of ticket $500 and an average donation of $500 that's $6m. Add in the $6m for Patterson and let's say $5m for the Shaka/Barnes buyouts. That's about $17m. Plus whatever ongoing increase for Shaka and his staff. Suddenly that $50m reserve is $25m with an ongoing operating loss around $5-10m annually.
Strong's contract is guaranteed. If they have a subpar season like it appears they will, it will still be very difficult to fire him. But season tickets aren't exactly going to fly off the shelves if Strong returns. All the while, fan expectations remain that they can money whip anyone they want. That's what the next AD is walking into.

Probably 10-15,000 of the tickets sold for Rice, were Rice fans hoping to be at the win over stronghorn.
stronghorns are in a tailspin and I doubt espn is very happy about losing their arse on the lhn. Have to believe espn is out to get strong fired asap.
