re: It's Gameday!

There have been a few years where we lived up to the preseason hype.

We were the consensus pick to win the SEC in 1983. After we beat UGa in Athens that year, breaking their streak of 24 consecutive conference wins, and clinching the championship, Dye gave one of the all-time great post game pressers, opening by saying to the assembled sportswriters, "I know a bunch of y'all predicted we would win the conference this year. I bet hardly a one of you actually believed we would do it."


We were highly ranked in '87-'89 and lived up to it as well. It seems that most of our underachieving years occurred under Tubs.
