The University of Louisville will expand Papa John's Cardinal Stadium for the second time in the last decade, a development which will enclose the north end zone, create multiple new fan amenities and enlarge and enhance the training facilities for the football team.
About 10,000 additional seats will be added with the expansion, creating a unique look in the end zone structure for the stadium and increasing the total seating capacity to approximately 65,000. The expansion will include 1,000 modern club seats, 65 new premium loge level boxes and 10 exclusive field level suites while adding 25,000 distinct square feet of space. The club seats will have access to a premier gathering area that will provide viewing access to the field. The middle of the field level will feature a special entrance for the team surrounded by supporters.
The design will provide a connection between the east and west sides of the stadium. The stadium seating will continue to feature all chairback seating for fans, providing the only university-owned and operated stadium in the nation with that element.

Yeah, KY has reduced, by 6,942, their seating capacity, to 61,000, & put in fuzzy concrete in lieu of real grass.

I wonder if Jurich and Petrino will call up Harley Davidson for yet another corporate naming rights deal

Kentucky's capacity was reduced by about 6500 seats because the space was used to build suites, a recruiting room in the end zone and club seating in the lower bowl where food and alcoholic beverages can be served. They also completely renovated the concourses and put in many chair back seats. Louisville only sold out 3 times last year and 1 of those was the UK game. Now I guess they'll have an additional 10,000 empty seats to most games. UK's primary goal for the renovation was to improve the fan experience at games and make it more attractive to recruits.

Rather have a very nice smallish stadium than some dumbass monster stadium with seats the size of postage stamps.

Design looks strange. Why come to a point?

Isn't Papa Johns stadium all chairback? Sounds better than UK already

According to Kyle Tucker of The Louisville Courier Journal, UL has sold out 7 times in the past 3 years. So I'm not sure this is the greatest thing for them to do.

I've never had an issue fitting in our seats, and I'm 6'2 235lbs. You must be a fat tub of shite.

What a success story. Just a decade and a half ago, Louisville was on par with Memphis. They were is CUSA, barely plucking wins out of the air and had no fan support. They invested heavily into football and are now in a power 5 conference and winning a lot more and had to expand their stadium. Meanwhile, in Memphis...

Good for Kentucky, I don't see the problem with this at all.

No reason to add seats unless you're routinely facing sold out capacity.
I like what Kentucky did. They made their facilities better rather than bigger.

So that they can have even more empty seats. They rarely sell out games.
This is in response to our renovations. Little brother gonna little brother.
