Question for LSU, Auburn, and Mississippi St. fans

What's the difference between the 2013 Auburn-LSU game and the 2014 Mississippi St.-LSU game? Both games saw huge leads that were shortened late in the game. Fans of all fanbases have opinions on whether or not the teams came back or the second team was put in.

As I understand it the first occurred in 2013, the second occurred the following year.

The difference is stiff dew

The stiffness of the dew cannot be overstated

Winning team took foot off the gas the other team kept fighting.
Coming off a season in which Auburn quit it was a very encouraging sign that they didn't after getting down big early. They used that momentum and almost rode it to a national title.
LSU never recovered from their embarrassment and continued to be terrible the rest of the year.

There are fans out there that didn't think State whipped LSU's arse in that game? News to me

If I remember correctly State had 3rd stringers in on defense in the beginning of the fourth quarter and had at least one turnover (I don't remember whether it was a fumble/int/kick-off blunder)

News to me as well. People around me have conceded that yall owned the game, but despite that it's still pretty incredible that we were a Hail Marry away, still doesn't tell the story of the game. I wouldn't label it as an arse whooping, makes it seem like you're not used to winning. Kind of like the Arky people here, so desperate that 10-0 at the beginning of 4th quarter is an arse kicking to them.

the reason i ask is because lsu fans will say we whipped auburn's arse in 2013 and then let up, but we came back and almost snatched the victory away this past season from state. funny how one's tune can change depending on the circumstances.

Was at both games.
Malzahn made some stupid calls early against LSU in 13 and put him behind. Running the HUNH from inside his own 20 in the FQ and losing yrds each play - never huddled and punted. Punter dropped snap. In SecQtr on 3rd and 4 he throws a 20 yd out in a driving rain to end the drive at midfield... he was getting 5 ypc easy in that offense. In the end he ran almost 100 plays against LSU and in the 4th qtr the LSU defense was gassed so bad. Aub tried to make up scores but gave up too much early.
MSU started celebrating a little early with some reserves in the game and gave up big plays and almost lost on a miracle play. LSU would not likely have had that late success against the regulars. Reserve center hiked ball over Daks head... However, had Harris' Hail Mary been two yrd further it would have made it to three LSU receivers in a triangle for the catch if they did not fight over it and drop it...

The difference is Auburn's loss didn't stop them from playing for the NC and MSU's win meant nothing.

They didn't kick arse on offense, but 123 total yards is a pretty stiff beating. Of course this was kind of the equivalent of beating the arse of someone who is in a coma when you factor in our offense last year.

AU- new QB with a new Coaching Staff. Gus did not know exactly what he had in Marshall at that point.
MSU-Established Coaching Staff and a QB that was in the system for a couple of years.

you were losing 34-10 in the 4th quarter

Correct. That's why the score didn't tell the story of the game.
