Why not just switch Auburn and UT?

Extend that to 2006 and TN went 11-5 Vs Bama over a 16 year stretch. The series is 13-11 Bama in the last 25 years. It is an even series.
In two years Divisions won't even be required.
Divisions won't be required in 2016 and Beyond
This is going to allow the Big 12 to have a title game with only 10 teams and no divisions. Which means the SEC can get rid of its current division format and rotate through teams much more frequently. Here is my plan - basically the roomate swap without the diviision caveat.
Each SEC Team needs 3 permanent rival games every year that rotate home and away. You pick these by history of the current rivalry, proximity, balance of strength and future rivalry opportunities.
Then the other 10 teams can rotate home and away every two years through the other 5 slots. You cycle through those 10 teams home and away in 4 seasons so each 4 year player sees every stadium in the conference and plays each team at least twice.
So Tennessee's 4 year schedule could look like this.
2016
Permanent
Alabama
@Vanderbilt
Florida
Alternate
@Kentucky
@South Carolina
LSU
Arkansas
Ole Miss
2017
Permanent
@Alabama
Vanderbilt
@Florida
Alternate
Kentucky
South Carolina
@LSU
@Arkansas
@Ole Miss
2018
Permanent
Alabama
@Vanderbilt
Florida
Alternate
@Georgia
@Missouri
A&M
Auburn
Miss St
2019
Permanent
@Alabama
Vanderbilt
@Florida
Alternate
Georgia
Missouri
@A&M
@Auburn
@Miss St
I think this would be the best way to do it. The three teams for each team would obviously cause some drama but wouldn't be impossible to figure out and keep most happy, IMO.

My point was that any 2 warm bodies would have let us get there, Arkansas and SC specifically as football programs didn't really do a whole lot to propel the SEC brand.
You may be able to say that about the team they put in the east, but the team the west got has just as much tradition as the teams we joined in 92. Your failure to see that is sad. We are just going to have to agree to disagree I suppose

I said that a few pages back. It was pointed out that the primary reason that isn't such a great idea is because:
-YOu could conceviably have AL/AU play in back to back weeks (IB and SECCG)
-UT would either lose their game with vandy, or it would jumble up the rest of the cross division permanents.

And it still leaves Missou in the east.

UGA never cried about being in the East.
No but their fans did on sports radio. "If we were in the SECW we'd win every year"

I simply don't believe you. At all.
-Our most successful era since 1992 expansion started in 2002 when we starting winning the division, so we'd have no need to complain.
-We went on a drought from 2006-2010, but the west was equally as strong, so we wouldn't have said that then
-If we ever were to have said that, it would have been in the 90s at the height of UF/UT's domination, but in teh 90s we had years of:
6-5, 6-5, 6-5, and 5-6 so I doubt anyone really thinks it would have mattered if we were in the west.

Show me a fan base that hasn't cried on talk radio?
UT had the mantra about playing UF to early in the year and the one time sadly enough we got the chance we proved it was true.

Funny how nobody wanted to split the east in the 90s when tennessee and Florida dominating.
I never entertained the idea until we lost the Auburn game after 2002 and now after expansion we will see each other even less. I believe it would have been the 94th meeting this year had the series continued.

And that's exactly my point. Florida is an important rival and the state is very important to Auburn in terms of recruiting as well.
Our rivals both in and out of conference are to our East EXCEPT Alabama(Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Clemson)

There is really no reason to have Missouri in the conference. Kick them out and replace them with Clemson, Florida State, or Georgia Tech (again) and move Vanderbilt to the West.
Rabble rabble TV markets rabble rabble
Clemson brings nothing financially that the SEC doesn't already have with the areas covered by Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. The airport is 45 miles away and the traffic over there is horrendous. Takes an hour to just get to I-85. And woe to the patrons when it rains. Up to 1 1/2 miles walking in the mud.

my point is that it is not as important to others as it is to you.
a game that doesn't count in SEC standings is unacceptable not because the game would mean any less to you, but it must mean something more to everyone else.
Best post in the whole thread. I love the Bama/UT and the Florida/LSU games, for instance.
