It is also state law to accept anyone in the top 10% in their grduating class in Texas. So even if we wanted lower numbers, we couldn't get there. That is why it is super competitive(relative term) for anyone out of state or not in the top 10%.

Did I miss your answer on how LSU has increased their enrollment?

The job market is becoming saturated with people who have 4 year degrees. Would be interesting to see how many from each university actually get a job in their field 1 year out of college.

Auburn has made the decision to NOT grow its numbers. the university of alabama has started to accept any kid with passable grades and a functional ACT.
IDK about this upcoming fall, but last I checked there was less than a points difference between the average ACT scores of the freshman class at UA and AU. You guys can be proud of being small without trying to throw shade at Alabama, you know.

You don't want to start comparing job placement with us, trust me.

quote:Same at UA ~ I'd venture to guess that the construction/expansion projects in the last 10 years at UA is in up into the billion$. Incoming freshmen are required to live on campus, resulting in massive on-campus housing growth. UA is in the midst of a construction boom that doesn't appear to be slowing down.
A&M is not just cramming students in. They are building facilities and hiring teachers to handle the growth. There were 17 construction projects going on at A&M last year to handle the growth.
In time, that equates to a ton more alumni donating back to the school and supporting athletics - hence the need for 102,000 seats at Kyle Field.
When over 50% of the student population is from OOS, that equates to alumni from all over the country giving back to the school in a big way.

quote:A&M, LSU, and AU were on the top of the list for SEC schools in terms of earning potential from what I remember. This is due to a large majority of students being engineers and not liberal arts majors. Not really a knock on the university IMHO

It's just what flagship universities with the state's resources behind us can do. Auburn et al. wouldn't understand.

Holy shite at having 62k students on campus. Are yall the biggest campus in the country now?
If you go by undergraduate enrollment on a single campus, they are #2 behind Central Florida. For undergraduates on a single campus:
1. Central Florida - 51,269
2. aTm - 44,315
3. Ohio State - 44,201
4. Penn State - 40, 541
5. Texas - 39,979
6. FIU - 39,045
7. Arizona State - 38,735
8. Michigan State - 37,988

A&M also wants to grow the Engineering program to be 25,000 students by 2025. There are huge growing STEM demands across the state, but this is a very ambitious plan I'm very weary of being able to pull off.

Literally no one likes that plan. Very dubious at being able to pull it off.
