I'll have to record it since I'll be there. I love Verne and don't want to miss him calling an AU win

If you consider this a non sec game... the sec rant ain't the place to discuss it.

Not the first time, actually. In 2012 they covered the Notre Dame vs Navy game in Ireland, and I think before that I'd seen them do UF vs FSU as well as UGA vs GT.

Only if Florida or Georgia are the home team. The only time in recent memory I have seen CBS televise an SEC vs OOC team on a neutral site was Alabama-FSU in 2007. I believe even then FSU was the designated home team. Not sure why CBS wants to go out of their way to televise Auburn-UL. No one will give a flying frick about that game.

Meh, I'll probably watch anyway.

It seems the first few weeks of the season CBS is tied up with other sports that have always covered. I guess they're getting away from that because they know where the money is at. You're a blinded fool if you don't think anyone will watch the game.

That, and other notable ones were ND @ TENN/USC @ AUB (but I think that was when blackledge was on CBS, but was still the game on CBS)

Begrudgingly, I'll give Jurich credit for stepping up to the plate and scheduling this game. Looking forward to it opening weekend.

They've also called the previous couple Army/Navy Games

I wish there was a breathalyzer at halftime for Verne.

Didn't CBS lose the rights to the US Tennis Open ? So their College Football Broadcast will start earlier this year.

It's been a while but has happened plenty before. I remember Verne and Todd doing the Miami-Tennessee game in 2002.

I don't care who is calling the game as long as Allie LaForce is the sideline reporter again.

this is why^^^^
South Carolina & Georgia in September always occurred at the same time as the US Open and CBS covered tennis while ESPN gladly picked up the football game.
When the United States Tennis Championships became the U.S. Open in 1968, CBS Sports televised the tournament from the Forest Hills section of Queens, with Bud Collins and Jack Kramer calling matches that featured Arthur Ashe’s milestone victory in the men’s final.
That was the start of a long tradition at CBS. No other broadcaster has shown the Open, the same distinction that holds for CBS and the Masters golf tournament, partners since 1956. But while the CBS-Masters relationship looks as if it will go on as long as golf exists, the CBS-United States Open connection will end after the men’s final is played Monday afternoon.

Wasn't it floating around that drunk uncle Verne was calling it quits?
