Awesome.
There weren't any left in Houston, that I know of, by the time I was going to movies in the 80's and 90's. Nearest one on Souf Mayne Skreet was a flea market/vacant lot by my childhood.

There's one in Memphis still on Summer Ave. Just bring some bug repellent. The chiggers are terrible.

This one was on the corner of Bellaire and Hillcroft (it's apartments and a strip mall now) it changed over to porn in the mid 70's but before that we used to go at least twice a month. It's where I saw the original Posideon Adventure. My grandfather used to do maintenance work for a large drive in in Pasadena after he retired. I miss those old places.

There's one outside Dothan, AL. Opened in the mid-2000s. It's successful. Get a double feature for $5. Tune your car radio to the right station to hear the movie. Sit on a tailgate if you're country like that

My first movie was at a drive in. It got destroyed in a tornado in 1977. Used to love when my folks drove by in the evening hoping to get a glimpse of a boob or two.

Mine too. Got destroyed by a tornado in 1974. They rebuilt it and it hung around until the early 80's.

Me too.
There is one still operating about ten miles from where I live now. It shows mostly family movies. No boobs.

There were two in Selma back in the mid to late 60s. One was a westerns family and the other was a tittie show.
And Friday Nite was the shite.

My Dad would load up all the neighborhood kids and we would see all the kid movies.(Herbie the Love Bug, Blackbeard's Ghost) In one of Dad's "Don't tell Mom" moments we got to see Mad Max. It was awesome! A good thing about the drive in for us kids was if the movie was shite we would play tackle football on the back lot.

There are some awesome ones in Texas. It's a blast to take the whole family.

I remember when they all switched to porn to try to stay alive. Hard to compete with air conditioned theaters in the south.
But the new ones are great. Especially right now with cooler weather.

We take the little kids to this one a lot. LINK
We have a place on the lake not far from there. We stop off sometimes on the way back home to watch a movie.

Dude, there's one in Fayetteville. Hurry to see it, though. In recent years car dealerships, a Sam's Club and a new mega-church are popping up around it. It probably won't last another five years. Its north of the freeway on hwy 112, aka Garland Ave from campus.
112 drive in
