Friend of our's here in Birmingham are big LSU fans. Their teenage son, Sid, is currently in the middle of a tough battle against cancer. His mom posted this on Facebook tonight.

God Bless Les Miles

AL.com Article w/ video of Miles' Call

Since Sid is such a big Tiger fan, the City of Mountain Brook is showing their support for him by displaying Purple & Gold Balloons on every mailbox

Gotta love Les Miles. There's no coach in this conference I'd rather see Auburn lose to than him. Class act but also out of his mind on gameday

That's awesome to hear. Thanks for posting.

Any way we can help your friends or their child? Is there a gofundme account or something setup?

Who the frick would down vote this? This is totally irrelevant to team loyalties, but lies in the compassion of a "famous" person. to OP for recognizing that.

Coach Miles has always been a class act. We kinda forget sometimes that these coaches aren't just football robots. They're people with emotions and issues too. I've always felt Les does a great job of balancing what he has to do with the program with family time and also time spent serving others.

Several good stories in this. Thank you for sharing and providing a reminder that most people can come together for a noble cause.

Props to Coach Miles.

I am sure Les would agree this is not about Les, this is about the health, welfare, and the inspiration of the teenage boy.

My prayers are sent and will be sent again frequently. I hope the teenager draws inspiration from the call and enjoys sitting with the family at an LSU game.

Everyone should unite in wishing the teenager the best.

He's goofy, poor clock management and can't beat Bama... But is a class act and you have to like the guy.

Posted this on the TigerR earlier. My son went to preK with Sid and the mom is a customer of ours.

What a great testament to Coach Miles and LSU.

I asked earlier and was ignored and downvoted but genuinely, is there something we can do to help the child/family?

It's really hard not to like Les Miles. From everything I've heard, he's very down-to-earth, relatable and just an overall great guy.

Each time LSU and Ole Miss play, he takes the time to talk with Freeze's daughters for 10 minutes before the game. When someone asked one of his daughters who her favorite coach was, she didn't say her dad, she said Miles

The SEC would be one boring league without Les Miles. He doesn't get the praise as a person as much as Mark Richt does, but he has proven you can be a good person and still win big.
