It is just amazing to me that Otis will just fabricate a mystery recruit to drive subscriptions. I mean the whole purpose of his job is to deliver accurate info.
No it isn't.
He isn't a journalist, he doesn't work for a legit news source.
The whole purpose of the recruiting sites is to sell subscriptions, Otis' job is to attract people to pay for these services.
The recruiting websites are for entertainment purposes only, everyone of them have this in the fine print of their user agreements.

frick Otis. We're letting his bullshite get in the way of celebrating the commitment of the highest rated recruit in Bert's tenure here.
A game changer DE that we've really not had since Wayne Martin.
Trey Flowers, Chris Smith, Jake Bequette, and Jamaal Anderson were all pretty good for us in the recent past but none of those guys were regarded as national recruits and certainly not lauded as a 5* level guy, or even low 4* level.
We should still be on cloud 9 that got Agim, and that he's coming in at semester, he'll be a sophmore academic wise before he takes a single snap, he's got a 3.6 GPA, his head on straight, he's got a vision to play 3 years here, graduate in 3, and enter the draft.
We're all going to love that kid by the time he's done here.

Wait what? Really?
I had no idea he was enrolling at semester.

Alex Collins was also a "5*". #1 RB in his class as well.

Bequette was loathed as being a "legacy" recruit by Nutt.
Anderson was actually a scholarship given to get his buddy to sign, a guy who was suppose to be a game changing D lineman who didn't do shite during his time on the hill.

Most likely. Bert is doing a good job of filling the lines, this is the area where Arkansas has struggled since joining the SEC (being undersized was rarely a problem in the SWC).

Collins didn't play football until his Jr. year. He didn't get that 5th star until late in his Sr. year IIRC.
Agim's been lauded as an elite of the elite recruit since going into his Soph. year.
That's a big time commitment. I-49 being completed 15 years ago likely would've added another 1-2 wins a season. You'd think with all the trucking companies we have there'd have been more of a commitment to build another connection from NWA to Dallas/Houston/Lake Charles. Goods going down, recruits and sex slaves coming up.

I'd call Agim our biggest commitment since McFadden and possibly even bigger than DMAC.
DMAC was a heavy Arkansas lean before he ever committed. Agim was a heavy Oklahoma lean before he committed if I recall correctly and Arkansas was an after thought to other schools besides OU. But bert made up serious ground and got his commitment. Plus agim gets to stick to his natural position, DMAC moved from safety to running back.
<3 bert's recruiting

Are we gonna flip some Tulsa recruits at the last minute?
Rowdy Frederick OG Broken Arrow
Manuel Bunch S Roland
Jordan Brown WR Stillwater
Have all gotten scholly's to Tulsa.
Also it's blatantly easy to see which schools recruit off rankings. Look at Tramonda Moore. He shot up the rankings this summer and Miami, Auburn, Florida St., Arizona St., Georgia, Alabama, OU all offer suddenly. I love these circle jerks on offers. Schools offer ranking goes up more schools offer ranking goes higher. rinse repeat.

Yeah the stars thing is largely a popularity contest. I think there are too many recruits for the ranking services to keep up with them well enough to be accurate.
And then when a 2-star kicks arse in college they retroactively bump to 4 or 5. Like Felix Jones. NFL caliber player, recruited by no one. Then the services pretend like he was a 5 star all along.
Agim passes the eyeball test though. Big, strong, fast, good technique. He already looks like a college player and he's graduating early so his head is screwed on at least halfway straight. :)

Felix wasn't a 2 star, he was offered by Tennessee (back when that still kinda meant something), OU and others as a DB.
Similar to Matt Jones being offered by OU and several others as a WR.
McFadden was initially ranked as a 4 star athlete, many projected him to the NFL as a safety.
So that is 3 of our best players in the past decade or so who were all playing "out of position" here. Bert's recruiting thus far is getting enough talent to put these type of players at their position for best success here and in the NFL.

It's amazing how many guys were out of position during Nutt's era. Like basically all of the good players besides Jermaine Petty, Ken Hamlin, and Tony Ugoh.

that was the only way nutt could get good players; let them play where they wanted to play
Dmac would be the best saftey in the league if he played there

Meh, not really. Nutt could recruit, when he wanted too.
Generally you only saw him put out an honest effort for a couple players each year then fill out the class with what was available and easy to get.
After Jones/DMAC/Dexter he seemed to be more occupied in finding the next one instead of adapting to the best he could find.

I wouldn't give up McFadden's years for anything; probably the most consistently entertaining football in my lifetime, with Matt Jones as really the only conversation I could have.
(Also, F Troy Smith)
That said, yeah, he would've been a pretty damn good safety.

Maybe. Given his injury history in the NFL, he might not have lasted a game at safety.

Going to watch TJ Hammonds tonight. He exploded last week every time he touched the ball. He goes to the high school I graduated from. He seems like the real deal out there! Ill post updates throughout the night.
By the way I'm new to the board. WPS

ummmmm. So Agim had 53 yards on 6 rushes last week and scored 3 TD's.
How many TD's will he score at Arkansas? I'm betting at least 2 if he's a DE and good lord knows how many if Brrrrt (yes like the A-10 Warthog) goes crazy man and turns Agim into a TB. 6-2 270 4.6 40. Yikes.
