Malcom Askew almost committed to UGA earlier this month. He’s a 4-star cornerback from the Birmingham area.

Askew said that Alabama has a mentality with the in-state kids that their work is done once they have offered a scholarship.

“They feel like with their background and their track record that everyone from in-state is going to come here (to Alabama),” Askew said. “That’s just the way I think Alabama feels. I hate to say that, but Bama is one of those schools that think because of everything they have done in the past and what they have accomplished having the No. 1 recruiting class the last five years that everyone wants to go there.”

Askew said he has an offer he can commit to from Alabama. He noted that the pull an Alabama prospect feels to play for the Crimson Tide is substantial.

“They know that kids want to come to Alabama,” Askew said. “They feel like that now we have offered you that you know you want to come to Alabama. Go ahead and come to Bama. We are going to get you to the NFL. We are going to do all these things. We are the big dog. Nobody can beat us and stuff like that.”

Askew said there’s a weakness to that strategy. He notices a difference when schools like Georgia and Ole Miss recruit him compared to Alabama. They make him feel he’s both wanted and needed.

“Then it is like Bama is not doing what these other schools are doing,” he said. “Alabama is not recruiting me like these other schools.”

What a big baby

I think our staff does fight for in-state recruits as well. Evans and Foster are good examples of that. Our staff also had to fight hard for Daron Payne.

He might fit the UGAlmost mentality better. At least they will make him feel special on their way to another underachieving season.

I've snapped at him too, but seems to me like some of the regulars are being dick heads. Some of us don't give a shite how long some of you have been here. And you are one to talk about bringing other people's info here. Don't you think?

You even refused to admit that you were an alter after bringing that info.

Like I've mentioned before. If I decide to reply back, you should expect this. I respond to criticism. I don't mind it, but if you don't like what I say in response, don't get your panties in a bunch.

And I've never been anything but honest on where I get most of my info. Nobody made me admit anything.

I understand that the long-time posters have a bit of a clique. It's sort of normal. Mob mentality rules in popular culture in the United States in 2015. Independent thought really is becoming a fossil. I will continue defending my posts, criticizing the Barn or Ole Mi$$ or whoever when I see fit, or whatever else that strangely upsets the apple cart here.

Sand apparently DOESN'T have an advantage with the comebacks. He thought he'd be an a$$, and apparently didn't like it when someone gave it right back to him. So he "bowed up". It's kind of funny (not in the way he intended it, obviously). And pitiful.

This is the thing that mystifies me. Why the "regulars" here think I'm "up in arms" when I defend what I say. I've asked this before, so I'll ask again. If I have an explanation or a response, am I just supposed to not respond? But I get it. When no longer able to defend the original criticism, accuse somebody of "being mad" and tell them that they need to settle down. I can assure you that my blood pressure likely rests near the normal 112/72 as I'm typing this.

Generally speaking, the only idiot is the one who began the flame, had it shoved right back in their face, and resorted to a response similar to the one that he gave (which was pathetic) when they couldn't finish what they started. Some of you "regulars" are a real piece of work on some things.

Am I wrong in that BuccWildBammer was posting as if he were in the position of having "inside" info for quite a long time back a couple years ago? Look, none of that really matters to me. But it would seem like he (of all people) would have some nerve mentioning something about me "finally admitting to my sources".

Earth to everyone on here for the 100th time. My main sources for inside info are redfish, DrewD, and a couple other people that communicate through email (that know a lot of high school coaches and boosters). I also tend to be a data compiler, sort of like chefrossi on TI (though not to the extent or amount of resources he has). I DO NOT speak to any coaches or anything like that. I'm purely 2nd/3rd hand information. Nothing more. Nothing less.

There is an underlying issue with Askew that goes a little deeper than that. Basically, someone around him (not necessarily him) is a little upset at Bama over something right now. That person has a lot of influence on him. I've heard nothing but good things about Askew as a person. As a prospect, I know he's considered a good player, but not sure exactly how good. Have heard he's a bit small, but plays much bigger.

Umm. Saban and his staff are notorious for continuing to recruit commitments as if they are not even committed. That statement by Askew is more akin to not being pampered by Alabama like other staffs.

It also sounds like he's been fed those lines several times by opposing coaches. Or someone is in his ear and feeding him that.

I don't know. But it might not be a bad idea for Bama to get things right with this person involved. He has a lot of influence on a LOT of recruits around that we go after pretty hard. These things happen with every program from time to time. I don't even know if it's UA's fault. This guy tends to get cross with people about as often as I do with people on here.

Lol at independent thought. You're just rehashing shite you see somewhere else. There have been many posters like you, come and go.

This happens every year during the summer months. Everyone just needs to chill out and remember who we are. IF you don't like what someone has to say guess what, It is OK, just move on.
